First step is to head to settings on the Watch and click on About and then Shutdown.

Place it on the charger to restart it.

I did that but because they had me factory reset watch, it keeps telling me
to download the app and now it doesn't work and the red light is still on.
So now I don't know what to do and really don't want to buy another fitbit.

@11Cam11 When you factory reset, it has to be added to the app again like a new device. That's why it tells you to download the app. Have you tried that? When you add new device to the app, the phone and watch should connect and give you the 4 digit code to enter to continue.

I was going to try that but didn't want to lose all my achievements etc. if
it didn't work since the red light didn't stop once I did the factory
reset.
I'm trying to find out what that means and if it has happened to anyone
else.

Do you know why there's a solid red light and how I can resolve that issue? Everything was working until I did the factory reset.

No, sorry. Don't know about the solid red light. Probably no point trying to add it back to your account unless you get the light resolved. Try chat support?

BTW, your achievements are stored on your account when you sync. You don't lose them switching devices or re adding after reset.
