Versa heart rate disappearing when exercising

Hi everyone, over the past few months I’ve noticed my Fitbit versa is losing the heart rate mid work out. The watch is tight on my wrist and when I take it off the green sensor flashes. It’s not due to dirt or sweat too as it occurs at all time when in the exercise mode. Has anyone else been experiencing the same issue? It’s really frustrating as it’s not tracking my calories accurately as a result. Thank you 😊

@Megsbee It's great to have you here! Sorry for the delay in my reply.

Let me help you with your Versa 2 losing heart rate when exercising and thank you for checking how you are wearing your tracker. I suggest you clean the back of your device with cotton and rubbing alcohol and restart it. Turn the heart rate off, save and sync then turn it on save and sync again.

Let me know how it goes.

Yes, I have had this happen as well. In addition to the typical cleaning/restart stuff, I think part of it has to do with the type of exercise that you are doing. If it is one with a lot of wrist flexion, light is going to get in either side, and external light is the enemy of wrist-based heart rate sensors--even if they are still flashing green.

I notices this happening even more on my Versa 2 than on my Versa, and it makes sense, because the back of the Versa 2 is even more rounded, less square than my Versa was.

Ultimately, the real question is: How does your heartrate track line look, post-workout? Are there dropouts? If not, then not a huge deal, because I think Fitbit's algorithms seem to account for periodic, short real-time HR loss. If the latter is a concern for you, you should probably look into a chest-based or upper arm-based HR strap.

Did you ever resolve this problem? Ever since the most recent update this is happening to me during every exercise session. As soon as I press start my hear rate disappears for several minutes. When it does show it is for a short

time and is constantly disappearing throughout my workout. This effects my calories burned and is frustrating.
