Versa heart rate not working

My new Versa is great but the heart rate monitor does not seem to work. The videos say there is a blue light but mine has not blue light in the back?

Is mine just broken, should there be a blue light HR monitor?

Try this:-

Open the Fitbit app on your mobile device. Click on the Account icon. Then Choose your Device. Tap on Heart Rate Tracking and make sure it is set to Auto.

Good Luck

Thanks for replying. I've gone onto account and then pressed on versa (my device) and there is no where that says anything about heart rate! I'm so confused. I've got other family members to check it too to prove I'm not going crazy.

Try this then:-

Log in on the app, go to the settings wheel, it should open your profile and at the bottom it has Heart Rate Zones. I can’t see ‘Auto’ big it has a default setting.

Good Luck

I found settings under 'account'  and there is a section called 'heart rate zones' however this only has: custom max heart rate, custom zone and then the limits- nothing about auto or on/ off heart rate. It seems we have different apps- I have an iPhone and maybe the apps are different for android and apple?

Thanks again

I’m on Apple and that’s all I can find. Sorry I couldn’t be of much help. Hope you get it sorted soon.

Take care and stay healthy

I have done reset on my fitbit Versa 2 to get the heart rate monitor working, but I have to do it everyday, some times two or three times in a day.  It should not be this complicated.  I have only had the device since December (got it as a Christmas gift).

Do you have a tattoo under the Versa ?
I had the same problem and had to change to the the right arm.
Hope this helps

I got my heart rate finally to work again after resetting it 7 times. I now have to restart it about 20-30 times a day as my heart rate continuously turns off and this is the only thing that fixes it. I had my versa replaces less than a year ago so it shouldn't be this faulty. I wouldn't advise anyone to get a Fitbit as so many people seem to have issues with the heart rate ! I've just bought an Apple Watch instead- its a shame because I loved everything the Fitbit app had to offer but mine and my mothers Fitbit device has become unusable due to the heart rate not working.

I have no tattoos.

"Check the setting to make sure the HR monitoring is on,"   How exactly do I do this? Be specific.

Agreed! I have been using Fitbit for years and never had any problems until I bought the Versa.

They also changed their warranty period from what it used to be (two years) and now its only one. Of course, because they are so slow with customer service I am now just beyond the one year mark and they said they couldn't do anything else but would give me 10% off to buy a new one. Why would you want to buy a new one if there is such a prevalent issue with the HR monitor malfunctioning?

I was shocked, and will not be buying another Fitbit, which is really a bummer. Has anyone had a positive experience with the Apple watches?

I have the same issue, but I have the regular Versa (not a special addition one). I also do not have any tattoos, so just a general malfunction with the versa it seems like.

Very frustrating, and Fitbit does not seem to care! I would be doing an overhaul on my product if I knew there was this major of an issue with such a large number of devices.

Once the hear rate monitor stops working, your sleep can no longer be tracked and your workouts are no longer calculated/picked up on by the Fitbit. Essentially renders it useless, unless you only want to track your steps and know the time 😕

Thank you! That also worked for me! 🙂

My heart monitor stopped working and can’t be fixed. I communicated with Fitbit support and they offered a 35% discount toward another replacement watch. What I found out is that this has been an ongoing issue that Fitbit is aware of but doesn’t have a fix. I feel the 35% discount is not an adequate fix since this seems like a defect. Very disappointing! I’ve moved on to another brand for a sport fitness watch.

Fitbit should have replaced your watch.  It would appear that customer service is no longer customer oriented 😪Sent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone

You are correct.  I believe they should have if they really believe in customer service.  I have an Apple Watch coming so I’m moving on.  People should be aware of this defect.

Thx

Ok

Finally I will have installed a third party app

simple heart rate and it works but not near my rate so I will keep trying other apps

This issue is not resolved. On multiple forums the support team says RESOLVED just to report good metrics on issues. There is a bug that caused heart rate to die out after updates. And they won't admit it. I have tracked 15+ people who had this issue and all were after updates. My wife delayed updates for 6 months and was fine - until she finally updated, Then it hung up and gradually died out. No amount of resets and factory setting help. It may come on for few hours/a day then again die out.

Yes I was able to have it work for one day on a third party app but the next day back to not working.
They are aware but don’t care!
Horrible tactics to get users to upgrade!
