Versa hr and tattoo issues?

I just received my Versa I had a blaze prior for I want to say two years no issues. I have a ton of tattoos I’ve noticed if I don’t have the sensor directly over an open area during a workout it will not register that I do in fact have a pulse. This is depressing! I had gotten the Apple Watch around Christmas time and it wouldn’t work at all over my tattoos. Apple said that was a normal issue with their sensors. So I returned it and went back to my trusty Fitbit. Now this! Tell me I’m not alone here 😭😭 did they change the sensors that much ?

I am heavily tattooed. I have in the past had a Blaze which had no issues with the heart rate monitor. I have an apple watch with nil issues and today I got my Versa. While I haven't had a chance to run a good test with it, it already seems to track my heart rate with no problems.

This has always been an issue with the green sensor lights and people with tattoos on their wrist/forearms because some magic with lights and reflection vs absorption that i don't understand haha

I just don’t understand why my blaze worked with no issues at all . My Apple Watch they said all the heavy black ink was the issue

Yeahhhh but my Fitbit blaze worked perfectly . I’m praying it’s just a glitch or something

Also on my main screen it shows a heart rate as soon as I go into workout it says I’m dead 😵

Very weird. I went for a run today and it worked fine. Maybe its the colour of yours thats the issue???

Are you tattooed on the inside of your wrist? If not you could try it there.

I have a full sleeve and the exact same issue. Might be returning to my blaze 😞

i know!! I’m so upset 😭 they said it’s the perfect upgrade for the blaze ! I’m hoping it’s a glitch or something I really want this watch to work !

Yes I am I wish I had a bare area but my blaze worked just fine

I have a tattoo right where a watch sits and my versa didn't work either.  I have sent mine back and they are sending me a new on so hope that works

Omg, thank you. This has just solved my HR issue. I have tattoos on my left wrist where the watch was, swapped to the right and now have constant hr data!

Apple Watch didn’t work well over the wrist tattoos but the Versa seems to be okay. It has so many other issues though.

My husband had the same problem. My right wrist doesn’t have any tattoos so it’s reading my pulse fine. Both of his sleeves extend to both wrists. We called Fitbit CS and they are trying to resolve the issue. There maybe a new version soon. 😞 I’m sad bc he was so excited.

i really hope that they resolve this issue I was seriously excited about this watch! I’ve been troubleshooting with customer service so far nothing is working 😭 looks like I’ll have to return this watch

Same problem here. Support has been less than helpful with any information on if/when it will be resolved. I'll be returning mine as well.

Just chiming in to say I'm fully sleeved both arms and my Apple Watch in the past had no issues and my Alta HR had no issues but I've been having a hell of a time with the HR on the Versa.. Starting to wonder if its the tattoos... I don't know if it matters but my Alta had 2 green lights and the Versa only has one.. I don't know if thats a contributing factor for not..  This Versa has been nothing but a headache since receiving it.. Back to the Alta it's looking like..

I wonder if the Ionic has the same issues. If not try that one. I have the Ionic and love it.

How many green lights does that one have for HR? I just find it odd they went from 2 on the Alta down to one on the Versa. There has to be some significant difference between having one or two.
