I select this function, and it is still counting steps. So disapointing 😞

and the problem is that we have exercises marked that we didn't do, unless driving now it's a phisical exercise 😕  (making the exercise goals totally irrelevant)

I like that it counts as steps so that it counts towards my daily goal.

That's cheating! 😄

I have observed this same problem. My versa uses 32.32.10.15. Is there a way to disable steps while biking?

Best Answer

I brought My Versa back to the store and buy an Apple watch.

So bad, I am a Fitbit fan! Charge 2 was doing just perfect with Bike rides...

I did not want steps counted while riding an indoor bike so I stopped using the Bike Exercise Shortcut and just manually add biking.  That way, you enter the time you started, how long you rode and the mileage and the Versa will calculate your heart rate, calories burned and miles per hour - no steps.

I agree!

It's a common issue between fitbit trackers (even those with smart track). We are asking fitbit to discount steps made during cycling activities, if you want this issue to be solved please vote this proposal, so maybe we can make them hear our voices...

I’ve had the exact same issue with my Alta and my Charge HR 2. Have spoken to them about this many times. My new Versa counts steps during a bike ride and as a result the calorie count is falsely elevated.

Today not only did it count steps during my bike ride, but it also thought I’d walked up 13 floors. When I take the watch off and place it on a table, it still displays a heart rate. It’s about time Fitbit solved this bike problem and I’d like an explanation for the other two issues.

This is so annoying, a company that must have tonnes of money and they can't even sort these simple issues out! People have been complaining for years now. My fitbit counts hundreds of steps in the car so I now have to use an app called travelbit to remove them.. this then goes in as an activity so my fitbit says "Goal met!" all the time, even if I havn't exercised! Now I've started cycling and the cycling activity counts steps too! what the hell! It counts thousands of steps in a short 30 minute ride.

@waffles_55  Agreed, $200 does not joke. You spend so much to get to know that you have to tweak your Fitbit stats after every commute to discount the extra steps. By virtue of this poor sensing of Versa, I'm awarded badges which I actually don't deserve. Such a shame.

I've only had mine a month and I've got loads of badges just from driving to work and back every day! They need to pull their finger out!

Yes and they refuse to acknowledge it.
It’s ridiculous.
I’m getting rid of mine.
Try one of the Amazefit Watches. Better product. Better price.

Why would you not want those steps to be included? I work hard at biking and put on a ton of miles so just because you walk/run means my miles don’t count. A mile walking on average =2000 steps. For biking it averages 250-450 per mile. I want them to count. It’s a workout! Your steps count when u lift weights! When I do kettle bell workouts! When I do boxing workouts. Why can’t they count when I bike?

Best Answer

I don't want them to count because they're not steps! Weight lifting isn't steps either!

I'm thinking of getting a samsung gear fit pro instead!

I’m afraid you don’t understand.
These Fitbit devices are recording steps while I’m riding the bike as if I was walking AND riding at the same time. It therefore grossly overestimates the caloric expenditure for the ride.
