Versa is pausing during my workout

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Just purchased my Versa on Monday. Been working fine all week at the gym. This morning it started pausing randomly while I was on the elliptical. Is there some kind of software glitch going on? My wrist was staying pretty steady (ie, not hitting buttons...). Even if it did hit the buttons, is there a way to not have the watch pause a workout by hitting a button?

Yes this worked. Thank you. I was losing my mind in spin class. I was like what is going on

This worked for 10 seconds, then, it went back to freezing again. This has happened every single time I tried.  if this does not work, I will return this and so will my 39 friends who also have it.

I have experienced the same problems that you described. I too have found that my mountain bike glove are the culprit. The only solution that I have come up with is to purchase a cover that is thick enough that the buttons become recessed. This item is: 2 Pack Screen Protector Case for... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07WQ1YTC8?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Easy to install and remove as it is a soft malleable material. I only use it when going for a ride.

All of that said, I am with you about lack of notifications of calls and text msgs.

Hi @Utskier1.  That is a brilliant suggestion.  I've been having exactly the same problem when cycling with a jacket / gloves.  I never get unwanted pauses on the Versa if cycling with just a t-shirt but it's far too cold for that at the moment.

MIne is off and it still pauses, I'm calling for help.

This has not helped me. I have this protective cover on my Versa 2 and my sleeve continues to pause the exercise on its own. So infuriating.

I called Fitbit and the person I spoke to told me to turn it off and then back on and it hasn't paused since. Just hold the button down, it will shut off and then give it a couple of minutes and turn it back on. I can't hurt to try and if that doesn't work call Fitbit, they seem to be very helpful.

Thank you. I've done that multiple times. 😢

Restarting it won't make any difference.  The issue is to do with the sensitivity of the touchscreen when you're wearing long sleeves etc.

Thank you -- I 100% agree. I even have a protective cover on mine and it doesn't matter. I have said that is what is triggering it, but so many people say "well, mine doesn't do that, so yours can't be either" that they are making me 2nd guess. I finally had to set mine to 'turn on only by pressing the button' and not by any movement. My long sleeves trigger it way too much, and the fact that there is no way to put the screen to sleep manually during a workout is a real bug in this system.

Honestly if you haven't called them, call them! This is too expensive to not work properly!

Yes, this auto pause option is really an issue. The versa always pauses while I am doing low rows. When the watch touches anything, it pauses. This needs to be fixed. The Exercise option has no capability of disabling the auto pause or disabling the screen while touched.

Thank you, there are a few things that need to be fixed. I really love my Fitbit, but I don't like the bugs. Thank you again!

I just had this issue today. Missed about a mile of a 6 Mike walk because it paused probably due to long sleeves.  Getting cold.   I keep picturing like and old fashioned flip cover on watch to prevent it from happening but figure there must be some technological fix to this.  Showing my age I guess.  Lol

I have the same problem.  I have the versa 3 but there is no button on the bottom. How do I restart it?

How do you get to the auto pause option?

Doesn’t matter, I still have same issue with versa 3.   I do a boot camp everyday and if any skin touches the face of he watch with even the slightest movement it pauses.  I don’t notice until the end of eh hour that it stopped on minute 11.  It really, really needs a lock out option.

This is my 3rd Fitbit watch over the years and I really like the app. My wife has had 3 also.  But I will change to Apple Watch if this issue isn’t fixed.
