Versa is tracking high values of heart rate

I am 69 and normally my Fitbit Versa give me HR values that seem reasonable. Unfortunately, a couple of times in the past week it has recorded an activity with impossible high values of average and peak heart rate. So long as most of the time it seems reasonable, the occasional glitch would not worry me. However, on 13-Jun-2020 it gave me values of 193 avg bpm & 210 peak bpm, when I was only power walking at 8min 8sec per km pace. I would like to know if there is any means of correcting these erroneous values, so they are more reasonable. I noted that, when the HR was at its faulty peak, there was also a lot of noise in the elevation trace, which should have been essentially flat.

Hi there @sja45uk, welcome to the Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention, I'll be glad to help you with the high heart rate readings you've been getting from your Versa.

If you haven't done so yet, please restart your Fitbit Versa as described in this help article. Then, make sure about the following:

  1. Your device is positioned correctly on your wrist:
    • Tighten the band so that it doesn’t slip on your wrist. For more information, see How do I track my heart rate with my Fitbit device?
    • Heart-rate tracking may not work with certain accessory bands, especially if they’re loose fitting. For best results, use the wristband that came with your device.
  2. If you’re doing an exercise such as high-intensity interval training, boxing, or other activities that cause your arm to move vigorously, try to relax your wrist and stay still for up to 10 seconds until your heart rate appears.

After this, monitor your Versa for the next 24 hours and see if the issue gets fixed.

Keep me posted, I'll be around.
