Versa isn't responding to taps

Is it just me, or is the sensitivity of the watch face a tad unpredictable. Like everyone else, I have many devices that require taps, swipes (yes Apple's swipe feature is much smoother), and presses.

The Apple watch wasn't perfect for tapping, but I didn't have to tap 8-10 times to wake it. To be fair, the Versa raise to wake feature is better to the Apple product. Anyway, please do not suggest restarting, as I got that is the default, and decades of Windoze and Android use taught me that well 😉 let's just assume it's my first action to any Versa problem. Now what. The reason it bugs me, is that when an alarm, text, call, buzzes, the tap just does not want to work.

It gets tired after a while. Sadly, if Apple had 3-4 day battery life and the same selection of watch faces Versa enjoys... I'd go back. I was hoping for not an update, but an announcement of a possible update somewhere in the future. Even a "maybe in 2019 sometime" might have me holding on. But nada.. zip.. zero announcements from the labs. No reason for hope lol. I hope I'm wrong. I like the Fitbit software so much better.

Does Fitbit listen? And no, I am not an Apple FanBoy, and there is a reason why I returned the Apple for Fitbit.. the aforementioned issues.

It's great to see you here @Captain-Canuck.

If the quick view feature on your Versa isn't working, I recommend verifying that it is on by pressing and hold the back button, then swipe to the quick settings screen > Screen Wake > Manual.

I hope this helps, let me know the outcome. Smiley Happy

The setting is on auto, as  I don't want to have to tap it to see the time/stats every time, besides,  the tap DOES function...it just is not as advertised...sometimes it's flawless...*tap-tap presto* and others...*tap-tap*...*tap tap...TAP....TAP TAP TAP TAP TAP* and it works. So yes it works..just not consistently. I find it is the most stubborn..to the point where I have to wake the screen manually to cancel the alarm. If it is any consolation, I did not find the Apple watch haptics all that consistent either. My guess it has to do with screen size.

I have zero response from my fitbit today.   I tried the holding down of left side button with lower right....nothing.

Another thing I read said to go to settings to turn off and restart. If it is a black unresponsive screen that's impossible to do.  Now what?

No. I don’t care what any of the other responses are but I can tell you
from experience that it is not fully water resistant. I used it to swim
laps and after I got out it worked fine but later that day it stopped
working all together. It still doesn’t work. I wouldn’t risk it.

My first time swimming with the Versa I was a little scared. But it is
designed for water and it did a great job of not only counting my laps, but
identifying my strokes on each lap.

It is not swim-proof. The first time I took it swimming it died right after
I got out of the pool. Fitbit replaced it. I got a second watch and was
worried to take it swimming so waited for a month, finally took it swimming
and it died. Fitbit is sending my second replacement watch. I would not
swim with it.

They say it is. But like Alexinwonderland and Kirsten, mine also
suspiciously stopped working one day after a swim. And I mean the black
screen of death. So I sent it back.

My second Versa (the first one was replaced because of a bad battery), died
suddenly while in the pool. I do not believe FitBit claims that you can
swim with this device!

I have had mine since may. I've put it on and only taking it off for
charging since then. I shower, I swim, I play in the pool with my 4 yr old,
I take long baths, I snorkel, I dive in the deep, I do everything with this
one on (and I love how it doesn't feel like you have smartwatch on) and I
(knock on wood) have never had any what so ever any kind of problems with
my Versa. Fitbit say it's waterproof up to 50 meters and I can definitely
support that and even little more than that. One thing I do know is that I
love my Versa and I couldn't have asked for a better product, I don't
understand why people are having so much trouble with it mine is lovely and
I wouldn't trade it for the world! ♡ see less

I second Alexinwonderland's statement. I just got mine a little wet
(splashed and in less than 1 ft of water) while floating on the water
yesterday and it stopped working. I would recommend you don't get this wet. The
water resistant statement is a joke. Now I have to wait 5-10 days just to
ship my watch back before they'll send me my replacement "options".

Mine was fine after a swim in the pool. However, my husband swam with his
Versa ONE time in the pool and his stopped working with the black screen of
death. I'm obviously afraid to take mine for a swim again.

Hello hels_bels.  What was the result of your issue?  I'm asking because I am experiencing the same problem.  I know that the watch is on because I can see the activity on the app but the watch face is black.
