Versa just fell apart & options offered by Fitbit

My Fitbit versa virtually fell apart it was just outside the 2 year warranty so I was offered 35% to buy a new one. These things should no fall apart like that & aren't we covered by the Sale of Good act?

This is what I wrote to Fitbit in response to being offered 35%

I am disappointed that you are unable to replace this item and instead you are offering 35% my next purchase. I know it's just over the 2 year warranty but I would still not expect it to fall apart like that and would ask that it should be reviewed again as to whether the item is actually "fit for purpose" under the sale of goods act.

This is not my first fitbit & I have been loyal to the brand but at this point I am now extremely tempted to move to the apple watch as it also sync's with my omron blood pressure app (which I have previously written to fitbit about in the past but have been told they is no appetite).

Hi @Fitclarke1972 - You asked about the sale of goods act. The Consumer Rights Act 2015 specifies the following. “Reasonable length of Time” is the sticking point. The EU already doubles the US warranty. It is standard for the industry. You did not purchase an extended warranty. And Fitbit is offering a substantial discount on another device. I’m sorry your Versa broke, but in my opinion, you would be hard pressed to prove you qualify for a refund. Sorry.

Thanks Carol. “ Reasonable” is hard to define as is obviously subjective.

Ive also mentioned about lack of app integration for blood pressure.

maybe this is the time for me to take the leap to apple after 6 years of loyalty to Fitbit.

just my thoughts

@Fitclarke1972 - The Apple 6 does not offer blood pressure integration yet, either. I’ve heard it may be coming for the 7 but that may not be out for another year.  I’ve recently looked into the 6 and was disappointed to find it does not offer sleep reports (other than the time you went to sleep and when you woke up). Also no oxygen variation report, which is important to me. No Community Forum (which I love!). Neither Apple not Fitbit are perfect or offer everything. You just have to do your research and pick what best suits your needs. For me, that is still Fitbit.

BTW, I always arrange for an extended warranty on electronic products.

Thanks Carol

luckily I had already checked some time ago and apple does provide the integration I require with the omron app for my blood pressure which is great.

I did write to Fitbit well over a year ago about whether they would consider it and I was told there was no appetite

I totally agree that none will be perfect but everything else for me is apple right now and apple brings the blood pressure integration I need. The main downside I do see with apple though is the battery life ( 18 hours v 6 days).

i have to make a decision soon as right now the only monitor I have is my phone lol
