Versa keeps dying and shutting off randomly

The Versa keeps randomly shutting down and turning off. It's not a battery issue as when I turn it back on it still shows a good amount of charge.

Hello everyone. I apologize for the late response. I'm sorry to hear that your Versa smartwatches were randomly resetting by themselves.

I'd like to give thanks for the feedback you've provided towards our product. Please know that we provide feedback to our team based on community posts and we are always working on improving our devices and overall environment based on that feedback. Our main purpose is to avoid negative experiences to our customers, we're always willing to help and provide troubleshooting steps.

I'm glad to hear that the majority of you are already back on track after following the recommendations provided here or after contacting our Support Team. I must say that I really appreciate all of you are helping each other. However, for the ones who are still working with our Support Team I'd suggest to keep your conversation with them as they know what's the next step to try after everything you have done together.

If anyone is still having issues with their watch, please make sure to restart as follows: How do I restart my Fitbit device?. If the Versa keeps having the same behavior, would you mind trying to switch screen setting from "Auto to Manual" or viceversa and see if that stops the behavior? Also, let me know which Versa from the Versa series you have.

Try a restart. Do it at least 3 times.

It's great to see you here @Macanudo and @WendyB thanks for the input.

I would like to know if the instructions provided by our friend worked? Are you still having display issues with your Versa?

Hope to hear from you soon. Cat Happy

Yes, I am still having issues. There was also one instance where there was a blinking yellow dot next to the top right button before it shut down.

I have the same problem. Got my fitbit for a Christmas present and I was excited to wear it while working out and it kept shutting off on me or saying it couldn't connect to my phone which was less then a foot away

Mine is doing the exact same thing.  It’s frustrating due to the fact that you think you are getting steps but you’re not.  I hope Fitbit figures out the issue.

Best Answer

Has anyone figured this out? My Versa is basically useless. It turns off randomly sometimes and constantly others times - I reset it, it starts and then it blinks out.

It’s very disappointing.  I finally broke down and bought an Apple Watch.  I’ve been a Fitbit fan for years but I got tired of spending money to upgrade and not getting a better tracker.  I hope Fitbit figures this out.

Best Answer

It really is, since all of the other highly touted watches are three or four times the price. I tried a factory reset last night, and now the watch is a brick -- won't turn on at all.

Mine has been doing the same thing powering off and on on my hand every now and then. I thought it was just me .... I don't know what it is because my battery life sucks as well. I've tried restarting it. I've read that shutting it down will also help but it does nothing for mine. My HR has been off in my workouts too. All I do it try turning it off and on before I workout but that's tireding as well.

This started happening to me, too. I had fully charged it the morning it happened the first time (crashed in the middle of the night when I tried to set an alarm), and I thought it was just a me because it came back on with a good battery charge after plugging it in for just a few seconds (although the clock was still reading 2:30AM for a while at 11:00AM when I plugged it in). It happened again in the middle of the night Saturday (this time around 3:30AM). It was fine in the daytime both Saturday and Sunday, but it crashed again Sunday night around 9:00 when I tried to set the alarm for Monday, and I woke up again this morning to find that it crashed while I was asleep yet again, and it crashed AGAIN around 2pm when I was on the treadmill. It's been less than a year, and I've ALWAYS had problems with it (failing to sync, can't rely on it to give me notifications from my phone, etc.), but this is driving me crazy.

This is happening to my Versa as well.  I am at the point to just say forget it.  I hope support can share some insight and a permanent FIX.

This just started happening to me as well. I am concerned that this original post is dated a year and a half ago and people are still experiencing the same problem. When I went to bed last night, my battery was at about 80%. This morning, the Fitbit alarm woke me up as usual, however, when I went to check the time at work, nothing. When I hold the button down, it says the battery is dead. This should not be. I use a Fitbit watch face and I don’t have the “always on” function activated. I’m also not working out right now, so it’s not working overtime! I have read other posts saying once this starts, watch batteries continue to drain quickly. I chose the Fitbit over an Apple Watch (which I had previously - it lasted over 3 years with zero issues) because I wanted something easy...now I’m wondering if I made a mistake.

I have gone as far as a full system reset and still have the same problem. Often the watch is working and the screen won’t turn on as well.  Not sure what to do now.

My Versa lite keeps turning off and on randomly multiple times daily-sometimes over 20 times daily. This just started in the last week. I have done manual shutdowns but the issue isn’t solved.

This has been happening to me too. I have done a factory reset three times. The watch will vibrate, have a dark screen, and not respond to pressing the button on the side. Then it will just come back on. This is really disappointing since I just got this watch two months ago.

Mine keeps going haywire. We need to contact FitBit to replace these.

I'm having the same issue and this is the replacement for the previous one which went dead, obviously a major problem with fitbit versa which isn't a cheap watch!!!  I'm not impressed at all

Also having the same issue with my Versa. I got it when in 2018 and expect it to still be functional given the price point.

If this one dies prematurely, I'm finding another tracker. I am not a fan of in built failures or archaicism.
