Versa lately not tracking map of my walks

I have been using a Fitbit Versa with an iPhone SE for a ferw weeks now. I use the exercise app on the watch to track "walk" exercise events.

When I started using this "walk" app, it would record map data along with heart rate, speed, etc.

Starting September 4, the map data no longer appears on the Fitbit app of the iPhone SE. The map data no longer appears on the fitbit.com website either.

Anyone else seeing this problem?

I found the root cause. When starting a "Walk" exercise on the Versa Exercise app, it takes more than a minute to connect with my iPhone. This process must be allowed to complete before pressing the button to start the exercise. Otherwise: No GPS data will be recorded with Walk event, therefore: I count two sub-optimal design decisions in this situation. However, the work-around does seem to work 100% of the time: wait for the "Connecting..." message in the Exercise app to disappear before hitting the button to begin Walk exercise. Even if it takes more than a minute.

Hey @SunsetRunner, it is great to see you around more often! Are the steps, distance, heart rate and calories from your walks still logging? So just the map is missing or anything is been logged? If just the map is missing, maybe this is more related with the GPS between your Versa and your iPhone. So I suggest you to take a look at the troubleshooting in this help article: Why isn't GPS working on my Fitbit device?

Let me know how it goes!

I've been using Versa 2 for months to map walks in conjunction with an Android phone.  The Versa has ALWAYS indicated a connection by vibrating, and this has always occurred several seconds to most of a minute after the Walk was selected AND Start was selected.  The maps were always generated without any awkward extra workaround like waiting to press the strat button..  Until September 22nd.  Since then, no walk has generated a Fitbit map.  There has been no GPS Lost warning, and mileages seem plausible.  But the elevation gain on the Versa is always 1374 ft, which is always wrong.  So a new and consistent failure started at a known time.  I just don't know how to fix it.

This is happening to me too. The last 2 walks I have done have no map.

Any one know of a solution yet?

Same here - my maps stopped consistently appearing in mid-September.

Yup, mine stopped working today. I'm using Charge2 on Android 10. Map worked perfectly yesterday and then today's run tracked everything perfectly but no map. It also didn't sync to Strava automatically like it used to and I can't see a way to force that anymore.

Same here. Fitbit off by over a mile less than my Samsung Health app. registers. No map. Shows connecting throughout the walk. GPS signal weak. Solution?

In the end mine was due to not giving the app correct permissions to run in
the background. In my defence it was a new Android phone and I'd just come
from being a long time iPhone user.
