Versa monitoring heart rate even when watch is not worn

Hello,

I've noticed my versa is being a bit strange specifically with heart rate monitoring and especially when I'm not wearing my versa, it still monitors heart rate and the green/red light flickers on the back intermittently.  Usually there would be a dash when the versa is not being worn for heart rate, but this doesn't happen anymore. 

Is there a way this can be fixed?
