Versa not counting my steps when I walk in the pool.

I specifically purchased the versa because it was swim proof.   My pool workout consists of walking laps, but the versa is not counting the steps at all.  Any thoughts on why or how I can get these tracked?

My only thought is that the resistance of the water is affecting the way the wrist moves while walking. 

Your arm is not moving in a way that makes the Versa think that you are walking

If I am in shallow water it will track, but i am usually above my waist and
then it stops tracking. I am going to try the elliptical setting since
that is non impact to see if that works.
