Versa not keeping track of heart rate on ankle

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I just bought a versa, to replace a charge 2. I wear it on my ankle when bike riding, but the versa isn’t able to track my heart rate. It jumps randomly to my resting hr over and over when I’m riding. I never had a problem with the charge 2 on my ankle. It tracked heart rate accurately.

I’ve tried moving it around, tightening and loosening it, to no avail.

Any suggestions?

Hi @Ktothemuse  The tracker is made to wear on your wrist, so if you want all the functions to work then that is where you should wear it. Why wear it on your ankle for biking anyway? It picks it up well when wrist worn (well mine does).

@NellyG Bike & spin class riders wear it on their ankles, tucked into socks, taped to their ankles as the app dashboard will not record correct mileage for that bike ride or spin session as there is no step count algorithm to calculate otherwise.

Umm yes, but you are still not getting correct distance by counting bike revolutions as steps

Better than nothing though.  You wear tracker on your wrist & you will be lucky to get 0.58 miles returned for a 33 mile bike ride as that is what happened to me very recently.

Just moved to Garmin Fenix 5 over this.

When I wear it on my wrist for bike rides, it doesn’t register any steps. I want the hard work on the bike to count toward my daily step count, so I wear it on my ankle. Many people do this 🙂

I’m not worried about it having the correct distance.

I don’t understand why my versa isn’t tracking heart rate while on my wrist. I’m wearing it in a soft stretch you headband that I double up on my ankle, the same way I wore the charge 2. My next attempt will be using a strap big enough for my ankle, to see if that makes any difference.
