I am on my 3rd Versa! They malfunction- go haywire then die! I have had issues wearing a watch in the past. Has anyone experienced this phenomenon? Current the device is not capturing my heart rate (the beginning of the end). I never get the device wet. Help!

@Morette It's great to see that you've visited the Fitbit Community!
Let me help you with your Versa not recording heart rate. I suggest you clean the back of your device with cotton and rubbing alcohol and restart it. Turn the heart rate off, save and sync then turn it on save and sync again. Also check these tips to improve the heart rate reading on your device.
Let me know how it goes.

@Morette I have experienced the same thing and indeed about 3 or 4 months and the versa dies. Luckily here in the Netherlands and particularly at the store where I bought it they have a good policy of replacing them immediately but I’m now on my 4th versa!! In a period less than a year.... And currently my newest versa that I got in Friday seems to be functioning fine but now the Fitbit app is not working properly. As for your issue my last one had the same thing. I did a reset by holding left and right down button in at the same time until the Fitbit logo appears and then it restarts. This helped for about an hour and then it again stopped tracking my heart rate and there was no green light. I tried shutting down and doing a factory reset, all not beneficial to me but it may help you

Thank you for sharing and validating I am not alone. I did the restart to no avail. The heart rate start working on it's own but the rate just stays on 76 no matter what my activity is.
You are on your 4th Versa! Wow! I have a friend that is on her 4th as well. Fitbit has been great about replacing it here in the US as well. I hope the software gets fixed soon..

My second one is on the way - I got almost 8 months out of mine but that seems to longer than most. Travel the forums awhile - you’ll see you are most definitely not alone. Once this replacement goes I’m going to explore other options. Too expensive for such a short shelf life.

Wow 8 months! This one has only lasted to months! I don't get it wet either! I really enjoy the device but like you said it is too expensive to have such a short life! The ling you for sharing.

Been luckier then you guys..
I changed my first versa within 48 hours in April 2018.
I have had this versa going since.. and going into pools .. showering and even going in salt water..
No problems with it until about a month a go.. when the floors sensor went nuts.. and now the screen i think is going. the Birthness on Auto.. is too dark during day time.. i have to switch it to normal.. then Normal is too bright at night so i have to swith it to auto.
so. i have a feeling the watch is dying slowly.. but.. so far 1 year and 5 months
still too short

Thank you for sharing! Wow! I'm wondering is it me, the device or a combination of both. I'm working with Fitbit on a resolution. I wonder if the Versa 2 has the same issues or is it too soon to tell?

I’m on my 5th in 18 months! I’m glad I purchased Insurance with it when I bought It. 3 of the screen just went completely dead.

Well for me my fourth just died whilst on vacation... It just died but this time I saw a little bit of condensation behind the heart rate sensor at the back (that did absolutely nothing anymore). So my theory now is that the versa is absolutely not waterproof or even water resistant. Which is utterly ridiculous seeing that when it came out that was a quality that was really being put in the spotlight. Curious to hear if experiences with versa 2 have been better because I’m at the moment not planning on picking up my fifth watch (all returns have been free which is great service but it is insane that this is apparently needed)

I called Fitbit support in February 2020 because my 3rd Versa from my original purchase in December 2018 (went thru the first 2 in less than 6 months which were fortunately covered under the warranty) quit working. I was shocked when they sent me a new Versa2 even though I was 2 months out of warranty. The Versa2 was shipped February 27th and I received and started using it March 3rd or 4th. April 27th, and the screen is going haywire and killing the battery. Called again and they offered 25% for any new device or 40% for Versa Lite. I’m not going to spend $160 - $200 a year for a watch that I have to go through the hassle of replacing every three months. Done with Fitbit!!!

That is so dissapointing. So my 4th versa does again (or was it 5th I have literally lost count) died gain after 3 months of use in December during a holiday. I’m not sure where you’re from but in Europe you should get at least 2 months full warranty on the product and that warranty starts again every time you get a new product also if it is to replacing one that has broken. After all the replacement is new and should work for at least 2 years. This is what has happened every time for me. Last time I was so fed up I could get my money back and/or pick out a new way h and the. Only pay the difference. I have done that and given them a final chance with the versa 2 hoping it will do better.

I am on my 5th Versa 3. The longest any of them lasted was 7 months. The last one only 3 months. I keep getting them because they replace them for free, but the inconvenience of being without it for tracking purposes, is really the pits.

My 3rd one will be arriving in 6 months. (Fitbit versa 4) Very frustrating. Luckily I still have my versa 2 which seems to be more resilient than versa 4. The only reason I had moved to versa 4 is b/c the battery life on my versa 2 had reduced, but at least it works.

Sorry, meant to say, my 3rd versa 4 (in the last 6 months) will be arriving soon.
