Versa not letting me start an exercise

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hi all, my versa has just started to play up once again. This time it won't let me start an exercise when I select it (I press the play symbol and nothing happens). I have had my versa for 2 years, never worn in water. I have reset it to factory settings with that doing nothing. I have also noticed 2 blue lines appearing on either side. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi @SunsetRunner, it's great to see you in our Fitbit Community. I'm sorry to hear that your Versa 2 is not letting you to start an exercise and the screen shows 2 blue lines. I totally understand how you feel about this and I appreciate the time spent trying to get this issue resolved before contacting our forums.

Please try a regular restart. To do so, follow the steps listed in this help article. After this, try to start an exercise and see if the issue gets fixed.

As a side note, I'd like to share this help page, which explains how to track your workouts with your Fitbit device.

Keep me posted on the outcome.

Hi JaunJoFitBit, thanks for your reply. I have tried what you have suggested many times with it not helping. Today the versa has decided to stay on 90bpm heart rate no matter what I am doing and even if I remove it. I am very much disappointed with this product considering it cost so much and only lasted 2 years. I just bought a new one, obviously not a Fitbit.  😞

Hi @SunsetRunner, thank you for getting back and trying the recommended troubleshooting steps. I understand how disappointed you are about this.

I'd like you to try another way to perform a factory reset. To do so on your device, follow the steps below:

  1. On the device, hold all three buttons for about 10 to 12 seconds.
  2. When the Fitbit logo disappears, quickly release the bottom right button, continuing to hold down the left and top right buttons (releasing the bottom right button as soon as the logo disappears is time sensitive).
  3. When the device vibrates, release all buttons.
  4. Wait for approximately 1-2 minutes while the device clears all data. Eventually, the Fitbit logo appears and the device boots and displays Fitbit.com/setup.
  5. Set up your watch from scratch and see if it works properly.

Let me know how it goes.

@SunsetRunner Do you keep trying to start a workout? I have to keep tapping for a while, it eventually starts though. Can take a bit, but mine has never completely failed to start so far.

@JuanJoFitbit with all the problems I've read on here about factory resets, I'll continue to keep pressing the start button until it works, thanks.

That's great @JuanJoFitbit

@SunsetRunner already mentioned in the initial post, that a factory reset didn't help. If my only issue is I have to press start repeatedly to start a workout, I'm not even going to try a reset. There are many complaints on here that a factory reset bricked out of warranty devices? My power button already doesn't work since one of the updates. And I'm not complaining. My Versa is usable so I'll leave it alone.
