Versa not recording accurate miles on treadmill

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I do 1 hour each day on the treadmill walking at 4.0 and elevation of 5-6

I set the versa app. exercise to treadmill and calories always agree with the treadmill.  However, the distance is way off.  The treadmill will say 5 miles vs. 3.5 on the versa.

I have been to several gyms in the past two weeks and same result.  I wear the versa on my left wrist and do not hold on to the treadmill.  I let my arm swing freely.

@gman1107 Is the number of steps counted correct (that amount of time on a treadmill would be about 9000 steps for me, but I'm a tiny person with short legs, for reference)? The distance recorded is just the number of steps times your stride length, which is part of your profile. Stride length can be incredibly variable for a single person in different situations, plus a treadmill complicates it further, because it feeds the distance to you, so I mostly pay attention to the number of steps.

If the number of steps is correct and the distance is important to you, you can recalculate your stride length and change it in your profile. If the number of steps is incorrect, I can commiserate - there's something in my stride that causes my Fitbits to count fewer and fewer of my actual steps the longer I spend on my treadmill at a consistent speed. If I change the speed regularly - i.e. mixing walking and jogging - I don't have that problem.

The treadmill only gives distance, not steps
I’ve used many treadmills with the versa and distance is way off

@gman1107 If you keep the hand you wear the Versa on touching your body, or put the Versa in a pocket (you won't get heart rate) for a workout, that'll give you an accurate step count. Then you can compare it to the step count when you don't do those things.

All I want to know is why the miles are so far off on the watch
I’m not interested in steps
And don’t want to have to compute mathematical equations
I called support and they told me treadmills not accurate but Fitbit watch is
REALLY?

@gman1107 I've given you the best suggestion I have. Fitbits count STEPS whether you care about them or not. Your stride length might be off. I can't help you any more.

@gman1107 Also, your treadmill is wrong if it's telling you that you're walking 5 miles in an hour at 4 miles an hour.

Spoiler
My versa is doing the same thing.  I just spent an hour on the treadmill walking around 4 miles and my total miles for the day is only 2.9.  I have 12k steps in for the day so I should have at least 5 miles in.

Since the Versa is not accurate, does Fitbit have a solution?

My versa is doing the same thing. 3 of 5 days it was dead on, the other 2 only a fraction

Hi, my steps are correct so how do I calculate my stride please?

Try turning off bluetooth in your mobile phone or keep afar the phone from where you're doing treadmill...then manually set versa on exercise to treadmill mode and press on and off at start and after....this is to disable gps mode and count distance by steps x stride length....on gps mode while doing treadmill registers negligible distance as you are practically stationary as far as the sats see it
