Versa not showing text messages

I just got the versa and I have the samsung galaxy s9+ and it will show I have a text message but not what the message is, also will not show quick response message. Any ideas?

Make sure that on your phone you have notifications to show on the lock screen (rather than hide). I think that should fix it.
