If I try to sync my Versa on either my phone or iPad, I have to reset the unit before the app can find the unit. I have also noticed that at times if the unit is tapped to wake it up, the unit does not wake even though settings has it to wake on movement.

Let me help you with your Versa not syncing and not waking up. You mentioned the iPad but not the phone you are using. Which phone are you using? Is it compatible? You can try the following:
Regarding the screen not lighting up make sure you are tapping the device at the base or properly turn your wrist so it detects the movement.
