There is a question in the forum but it appears as solved, so starting a new thread to get assistance from the community.
I am used to track bike rides with my Versa. I patiently wait untill the "Connect" message is shown and the short vibration on the device is felt, then start. All good until last week when it only logged the elapsed time and heart rate. No miles, no speed, nothing. Same this morning. Any advice on how to get it back? I really like this feature as I want to keep tracking my commute.

OK so to clarify, I am not at Fitbit so for specific product features you'll be better by contacting them.
My only comment, and this is my understanding, is that the Versa doesn't have a GPS, so you need to connect it to a gps for it to connect activities to specific locations, maps, etc.
If you go for a run or a ride with your versa but not a phone, **I think** it will record time and other metrics, but you won-t be able to see your route in sites like Strava.
If you connect the Versa to your phone via Bluetooth (and install the Fitbit app there), the Versa will record your activity related to a map. That way you can also have more data, the challenges, etc., in your app, and get it logging all your stats 24/7.
That's all I had to say: there is no gps in the Versa, and everything else there will be better sources than me.

I have the same issue. First time I tracked my bike ride with Versa 2. My Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is in a pouch around my waist. No distance recorded.

I recently purchased the fitbit Versa 2 having owned a Apple iwatch. I have found the Fitbit Versa very unreliable and died to track my bike rides at all. Sometimes, doesn’t track other exercises accurately either. Feel like I’ve wasted my money.

Hello.
Im an avid biker and now the owner of a Fitbit Versa 2, having recently upgraded from a Fitbit Versa Lte. I have found a solution to the non GPS data tracking when biking problem. Both of my devices had the same issue.
1. I had to make sure that when my Versa reads “connecting”, to keep my Fitbit app on my phone open. After it resyncs, it reads “connected” and I have my complete bike ride data. This is a major bummer, because my GPS does disconnect the second that my screen display timeouts. So, I had to change my iPhone settings for my Display to never time out (deactivate auto screen lock). Destroys a lot of battery life, but It gets the job done. I end my bike trip and I have all of my ride data.
2. The second solution worked for my Versa LTE, but not for my Versa 2. I had to make sure that my phone WiFi was turned off. After doing so, my Fitbit Versa would connect and stay connected, after I opened the Fitbit app for connection to complete. This was awesome. I didn’t need to keep the app open and I didn’t need to stop my screen from timing out. Try a few of these options and maybe you and other users will have success until Fitbit comes out with a more convenient and less troublesome troubleshoot. Good luck and enjoy your ride.

I have exactly the problem described, no mileage or speed, just heart rate and elapsed time. I followed the instructions to reset the Versa and had the same result. I have my phone in my pocket with the GPS turned on. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Hey!
I reported that it affected me as well a few days ago. I have a Fitbit versa 2, which was not tracking miles correctly, it tracked only quarter of the entire ride. Though it was disappointing, I tried to track it again twice this week. Apparently in the 'Exercise Shortcuts' in the app, the 'auto-pause' mode under the 'Bike' tab was turned off by default, which it why when I paused the ride, it did not resume on its own and hence did not track the rest of the ride. I turned the auto-pause mode on and it tracked the exact miles on my next ride. A
few other things I realized-
- Make sure you Fitbit is not too loose around the wrist.
- Make sure the Fitbit is synced to your phone a few seconds before you start the ride (Open the app, sync and close)
- Before you start your ride, ensure your GPS is connected on your phone (Doesn't require an internet connection), usually shows an active notification in your notification bar throughout the ride.
Hope this helps 🙂 Stay safe!

Thanks for the information. I have tried all of your suggestions and I get a partial tracking about 1 out of 4 times and full tracking about 1 out of 10 times. I think the times it works at all is when I sync the fitbit just before I start riding. If I figure out the magic solution I will let you know.

My versa2, is not tracking miles correctly I walked 33 minutes on the treadmill and it said I got .36 miles. That’s not correct. What do I do to correct this problem?
