Versa not tracking sleep stages

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

On Friday evening I updated both my versa and the fitbit app on my phone. Since then the versa has not been tracking my sleep stages. I searched for a solution and was told that the versa was too loose and it wasn't tracking my heartbeat properly. I tightened it up last night to make sure and again it didn't track my sleep stages. I have checked the record of my heartbeat and there are no gaps in the record. Does anyone have any other ideas?

Just to add. It did track the sleep stages before both updates.

I’m having the same issue, so it’s not just you.

I'm experiencing a similarly related issue here.  For the last week my heart rate monitoring intermittently works, including at night, thus sometimes not registering sleep.  I've work in the same way for a year+ and only now an issue.  Came here looking for answers....hmmmm

People should be giving your post a thumbs up so someone will take a look at this.  I didn't update anything, but my Fitbit app stopped updating sleep information Friday as well.

The app says it syncs, but sleep just doesn't update.  I have two days showing nothing now.

UPDATE:

I should also mention I tried signing out of the app and back in again.  That used to work with the calorie tracker, but did not work.

Mine hasn’t tracked since Thursday. It’s charged and synced and not too loose. I went to customer support. Waiting on reply. Now seeing this. I know it’s a Fitbit glitch. So I will wait for answer.

Mine is not tracking my sleep,  heartrate or  my steps per hour.

I didn't notice it, but my heart rate wasn't being tracked.  The green flashing lights weren't on.  I called support.  The guy had me turn go to settings and turn the heart rate monitor off.  Hold the left button and the lower right buttons until the device rebooted, then turn the heart rate monitor on.  It turned back on again.  The green lights came back on, and my heart rate is being tracked.

I assume it will now track sleep.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the fitbit app yesterday and my sleep stages tracked properly.

Hello @Twoggles@Allison795 and @Furbabiesmomma, have a warm welcome to the Fitbit Community. It's great to see you too @ParallaxView@Sundancepilot and @OPRunner, I hope you're doing well.

I appreciate your participation in the Forums and for sharing your experience with us. I appreciate those of you who have replied and let us know your issue seems to be resolved. Please note that the Fitbit app currently has in-app error notifications that provide an explanation for why you aren't receiving Sleep Stages on any given night. This is meant to provide insight into what might be occurring to cause this. The error messages are the following:

  1. We need more than 3 hours of sleep to reliably calculate your sleep stages. Learn more
  2. Your tracker couldn't get a consistent heart rate reading while you slept. Learn more
  3. We couldn’t generate sleep stages for this sleep. Please try again tomorrow. Learn more

When you tap on Learn more, you will be able to get more information about why your tracker didn't record sleep stages. Additionally, I'd like to suggest the following:

  • For any of the nights you were expecting to see Sleep Stages, did you ever click on the "Begin Sleep Now" or "Add Sleep Log" functions within the Fitbit App?
    • This is important to note because your tracker uses auto-detection to track Sleep Stages; so there's no need to try and remember to click on anything before falling asleep!
  • Do you have at least 3 consecutive hours of sleep?
    • This is important to note because you typically won't see sleep stages if you are waking up multiple times through out the night or taking short naps.
  • Your tracker's battery isn't at a critically low level prior to falling asleep.
  • Your device is tracking and syncing heart rate data.
    • This is important because Sleep Stages uses a combination of your movement and heart-rate patterns.
  • Your Fitbit App is updated to the latest version.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and keep me posted in case you need anything else.

My Fitbit was recording sleep just fine until Thursday night. I updated the phone that night and it quit recording sleep for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. No change in sleep habits, no change in how I was wearing the fitbit. The only change was the updating of the app. I’ve seen quite a few comments from others who had the same issue, so I’m convinced the problem is on the fitbit device or app side of the equation and not the operator side. That being said, I talked to a gentleman in tech support who had me take my device down to factory settings and re-install it and that seems to have cured it. I’ll know more tomorrow. I got 3 hours and 23 minutes of sleep which recorded just fine and seems to be accurate. I worked all last night, so tonight I’ll get a decent night’s sleep and see if it works as it should. Given what I saw yesterday, I think it will.

I’m having the same problem and it has been occurring ever since the last software update on 2/5. Nothing else changed about how I use it or how I sleep, and it tracked just fine before. I’m also experiencing a problem where it is misreading my heart rate and records active minutes for me when I am at rest. Really frustrating.

Ditto here for my Charge 2. It is recording heart rate, but hasn’t given me sleep stages for several days. I’ve had the Charge 2 for years and have never had a problem with it until now.

Having the same issues, but I just got mine on Fri and it hasn't tracked my sleep in two nights. I've only had the watch for 5 days

Are the green lights blinking on the back? Is it tracking your heart rate?

Hello @davinaglass84, thanks for joining the conversation, it's great to have you on board the Fitbit Community. It's nice to see you too @ParallaxView, thanks for your help. Smiley Happy

@davinaglass84 thanks for joining us and report this situation as well. Besides checking the lights on the back of your Versa as @ParallaxView mentioned, have you restarted your watch by pressing and holding the Back and Select buttons (left and bottom right) until you see the Fitbit logo on the screen. Which other troubleshooting steps have you tried so far? This will be very helpful for us to check this further.

Thanks for your patience and understanding, we'll be waiting to hear from you.

I have tried all of these things and have yet been successful. The last time my Versa tracked my sleep was on Wednesday. What should I do now?
