Versa not tracking swimming

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I've had my versa for about a week and half now, for the first week it was recording my swimming. But as of yesyerday it doesn't record anything.

I've reset the device, unpaired it and uninstalled the app, all the usual stuff, but it's still hasn't recorded any swimming.

It records it as active minutes, but not the actual activity.

Any ideas, help appreciated.

Restart it several more times. If that doesnt do it try a factory reset (settings app on the Versa and scroll down to About)

Restart your tracker

I tried this and waited till my evening class and it logged none of the 30 min walk there, none of the hour long class and none of the 20 minute walk back.

So it's now not recording any type of activity

@VersaNH, almost sounds like auto-recognize is turned off. You might want to check your exercise settings. Under your account scroll down to exercise, once there you will see all of the exercise goals. Tap on the walk and you should see if auto-recognize is on or off. Also check how many minutes is set. Default is 10 minutes.

So  I tried all the trouble shooting, I tried manually recording the swim on the watch, but then it didn't record heart rate at all, I was on the phone to fitbit multiple times doing as they said and nothing still worked.

I changed it yesterday for a new one. I had hoped it would have worked. But I went swimming this morning and it still did the same!

It auto-recognised me as being active and counted active minutes. But no activity (the swim) itself.

I honestly can't see why my first one was fine for a few days and then suddenly stopped. Then a brand new one I get just went straight to not working properly.

I'm honestly beginning to wonder if it's me or whether this is a fitbit versa problem. I've not been able to find any thing online with people with the same problem only that it doesnt record laps correctly.

First of all, I love your username. If you're from NH like me, HOWDY NEIGHBOR!

Second, there is a way to track swimming on the watch that you may want to try. Swipe left to the "Exercise" tile. There you will see a number of exercises, including swimming. Tap it and then hit the "Play" button. Then just swim and when done, hit "Finish". Next time you sync, the exercise should appear on your Dashboard.

Hi, I have done this. This does work to a degree, but it does not record heart rate when I track it this way.

My whole issue is that autorecgonise is not tracking my swimming and tracking it from the fitbit does not do heart rate.

Ive again this morning tried all of the trouble shooting that was recommended before with my other one and this brand new one is now still acting the same.

I do love the versa - when it worked properly for a few days. But I just don't know what's wrong with it and no one at fitbit can give me an answer. I can't seem to find anyone else who is having the same problem, but the fact it's managed to happen to me with 2 brand new devices makes me question whether it is something to do with fitbit and not what I am doing.

@VersaNH, sorry but your versa will not track your heart rate in swim mode.

Hi,

You're not alone. My Versa was recording swimming quite accurately if I remembered to swipe to swim mode. It has recently stopped this. I swim for appx 40 mins and all I get is 40 mins, no lengths etc. It also does not record on the app that I've swam at all. It then stays in this mode and I have to faff about for ages to get it back to showing time of day.

Very frustrating.

I’ve just started having this problem a few days ago. I’ve also restarted my Fitbit several times and did a hard reset.

I’ve given up on my My Versa lite and would not recommend it to anyone.  Just completed a swim this morning - 32 lengths of a 25 metre pool which is half a mile.  Zero was recorded despite auto recognise being switched on and the default set at 10 minutes.  I tried the resetting procedures before and ended up with more problems than I care to remember.  It does my steps, always, and my sleep as well as my weight record but swimming - only occasionally does it record.  If it can do it occasionally (once last week and I was swimming 3 times) then it should be able to do it always.  Twice instead of swimming it recorded “Eliptical” I had to Google THAT as I didn’t even know what it was!  Believe me - I didn’t do it - I’m 75 years old and do not intend buying another Fitbit.  I only paid attention to the swim record not working properly after I’d had it 12 months and so it’s out of guarantee.  I did think that buying a proper “FITBIT” would be top notch and that it would at least work.  Not so.
