Versa not working after washing

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I'm a medical receptionist and with the epidemic I have to wash my hands constantly. Normally when I get home I showered and disinfected my versa with a Clorox wipe. But I ran out of those. I thought since the Versa is water proof I would just use soap and water to clean it. But now it does not turn on. I tried to charge it but the Fitbit dots come on every other minute then turns off. What the heck happened? This is my 3rd FItbit and the 1st one with any issue.

Hi @Call2candy  did you try putting the Versa into a dry bowl of rice to draw out any moisture that got in it? With my Alta HR, I use rubbing alcohol to wipe it, but I've never washed it with soap and water. Try the rice for about 48 hours, then charge and restart it.Let us know how things go for you.

Im trying the sun.  Looks like one more senor has condensation. Ive swam with it and didn't have this issue. 😥

Swimming isn't the same as washing the Fitbit with soap and water. It may take time for the condensation to go away.

Do you think it will work after the condensation is gone? There is only one
more senor with condensation.

It's hard to tell @Call2candy but the best thing to do is get the condensation out and then try charging and restarting the device.

I am so pissed that this tracker was advertised as water proof to 50 meters and it couldn't handle being washed! It said i could shower with it.  This is my 3rd device.  And it will be my last.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @Call2candy. Thanks a lot for your help @Odyssey13

All Fitbit trackers and watches are water-resistant, which means they are rain-proof and splash-proof and can stand up to even the sweatiest workout. Whenever you get your device wet, we recommend dry it thoroughly before putting it back on. You can see more water resistance information and wear and care tips for your device in this help article: Can I swim or shower with my Fitbit device?

We recommend to clean occasionally your Fitbit just with rubbing alcohol for more details you can see: How do I clean my Fitbit device?

Versa wash pitch to me as being waterproof up to 50 meters. It can track swimming! That is more water exposure then what it had for this washing. I did not submerge it. In then sink I rinsed it, put soap on my hand and rubbed it and rinsed. Then I dried it with the towel and put it back on. I work in health care, so lets face it I thought this product would be amazing because it could be washed! It was fine until 10 in later I noticed it was not working. And now after researching this, FitBit knew this is an issue with the Versa. With my account I should have been warned that they have an issue. I might have been mad that it was sold to me under false pretenses, but I would have taken it off at work or worn in on my ankle so It didn't have to be cleaned thoroughly after working with patients. So please be warned other customers that these are not waterproof by any means, and even showering with it is not a good idea!
