Versa only lasting a year, dying just after warranty ends

Not sure what I am doing wrong, I believe I am following the care tips for each watch I had, but I have had both versa lite and versa 2 die just after the warranty is over. If I decide that I want to buy another one, I want to make sure it lasts longer than a year. What can I change if I don't wear my watch in the shower and don't put skincare products or sunscreen on it.

Personally, it's seems too convenient, mine started going around the same time, then got bombarded by adverts from Fitbit to replace. It all started after a software update, feels like the phone scams where battery life suddenly plummeted. I won't buy another one.
