Versa recording sleep pattern instead of sleep stages

My Versa (connected to iPhoneXS), was tracking my sleep cycles fine until recently - most night's it has been presenting sleep patterns instead of sleep cycles, like blocks of "asleep" vs "restless" instead of oscillating cycles from awake to deep sleep. It doesn't give me a score either, and seems to think I've only actually been asleep for 3-4 hours. I think it's doing this when I've recorded less than 8 hours of bed time, but that doesn't sound right that 8 hours is the minimum you can record to get a proper reading.. Is my guess correct? Has this happened to anyone else so frequently?

@em-jeffery Thanks for joining us! Sorry for the delay in my reply.

Let me help you with your Versa not recording sleep stages. This may happen for the following reasons:

  • If you slept in a position that prevented your device from getting a consistent heart-rate reading or wore it too loosely. For best results, wear your device higher on your wrist (about 2-3 finger widths above your wrist bone). The band should feel secure but not too tight.
  • If you used the Begin Sleep Now option in the Fitbit app (instead of simply wearing your device to bed). For more information on automatic sleep tracking, see How do I track my sleep?
  • If you slept for less than 3 hours.
  • If your device’s battery is critically low.

Regarding sleep score, this is dependent on getting sleep stages so it is also affected by your situation. You can read more about sleep score here.

Let me know how it goes.
