Versa's charging level stays at 99% for a long time

I've noticed when charging my Versa, it gets to 99% quite fast but then sits there for a LONG time at 99% before it gets to 100%?  What gives?  Shouldn't take a 1/2 hour or longer to charge that last 1%.

Hi, tes you're right, the last % takes a long while, but you will never see the message "fully charged".When it shows 100% for about 15 mins, just take it oiut of the charger and put in on your wrist. Mind though that it will show very fast 99% instead of 100. Do not worry about that, this is normal behaviour of the Versa. Mine does the same dan lasts for 5 days on one charge.

That doesn't answer my question though.  Why does it rush to 99% and then sit there forever?  That's the question.  Makes no sense and doesn't seem like "normal" behavior at all.

Hi, eventually it reaches the 100% but still giving the message that's still charging the watch. I think that not getting the message "charged fully" is a measure to prevent overcharging and/or overheating. See some topics on this community from users who left their Versa during, f.i., an entire weekend in the charger and after that the battery was dead.

I agree and my biggest worry is: am I ruining the battery by now allowing it to reach the full 100%?

I don't want to lose an extra 2 hours of steps for this reason...

Hi @Lunalily9 - don't worry about charging to 100%, it's quite ok to stop at 99%.

The reason for this behaviour is the way lithium batteries are charged. The current is reduced to almost nothing by the time it gets to 99% so can take a long time if the watch is draining almost as fast as it is being charged.

In addition it will take 15 minutes or more to go the last 1% which you will lose in an hour once you take it off charge.

So spending > 15 minutes to get < 1 hour battery life and not being able to use your watch is pretty much a waste.

What you can try is a sync then do a full Shutdown from watch Settings (About) menu. Wait at least 10 seconds before placing on the charger to restart it and charge it.
