Does anyone know why the price for the new Versus watch is the same in pounds as it is in dollars, so therefore if you buy in the UK it's more expensive?

@zoe999 glad to hear that! You may want to check the Versa's manual to get familiar with its features and help you on your purchase decision.
Hope you can become part of the Fitbit family!

Fitbit have previously said that they set their prices in each region separately rather than just use currency conversion. So, they must think that we in the UK are prepared to pay more.

I did think that, I was just about to buy it but this has put me right off as feel ripped off.

They say that a product is worth what people are willing to pay for it. If you don't feel the price is reasonable then there are plenty of alternatives to fitbit although I suspect many of them adopt a similar pricing policy.
Note that we in the UK do get a price advantage over the US in that the Versa standard edition comes with the NFC chip and fitbit pay but those in the US have to buy the more expensive special edition.

@zoe999 Welcome! It's nice to have you on board! Thank you for your interest in the Fitbit Versa. I would like to add that additionally to having NFC (which represents a $30 premium for the US market) you also have a 2 year warranty on your devices against the standard 1 year for US and most of the world (you can check the warranty details here for more information). Still it is up to you if you wish to purchase your Versa but there are definitely some advantages that the English market has over the US one. You can check more information about the Versa here.

Is the UFC chip included in standard models for euro zone countries as well? Granted, it's less of a price difference € to $ than £ to $, but it's still a few quid more expensive.

Yes the chip is in all Versas worldwide except the standard model in the US.

@SunsetRunner Welcome to the Fitbit Community! I hope you're doing well! Like @NellyG said the UK and European version of the Versa will have the NFC chip by default. I just wanted to clarify that not only the US but also Canada or basically the North American market will have the two versions (without and with NFC) chips as some other members might be interested in this information.
Let me know if you decide on purchasing a Versa!
