Versa's screen went black

started with vertical lines, still tracks steps but nothing on my screen.

@centex welcome to our Fitbit Community! By the way, I'm sorry for the late response. However, I'm happy to assist you with your Fitbit Versa since the display is not turning on.

 

I'd like you to restart your Versa as described in this help article. This will refresh your watch internally. After this, change the clock face to one developed by Fitbit, not a third party clock face. Finally, check out if your Versa screen works properly.
