i connected my Fitbit to my lab top (I kept the Fitbit on the charger ). I
deleted it from my phone and then went on the fit bit app on my phone and
set up a new device. I did the update tracker and let it go from there. It
would stop several times but I would hit the update button again and it
picked up where it left off. I would not use my phone and I would not let
the phone dim. I kept the Fitbit sitting on my phone and had everything on
chargers. It took awhile but finally got it done. Good luck!

Make sure your Fitbit is on the charger cradle correctly. I didn’t have
this issue but I did have the red x.

Listen. I haven’t even had my fitbit for a year and this “data not cleared. sync and try again” message has been up on the screen for 2 months now. I have tried a factory reset, force reset, disconnecting and reconnecting bluetooth and wifi. nothing is working at all and its very frusturating.

Have you gone into all posts on Fitbit Community there are many things that
you can try.

Hi

My Fitbit says data not cleared sync and try again. I've tried all that you said and still does not want to work.

I did everything suggested, but nothing happens. The same message appears: data not cleared sync and try again.
The problem is that my Iphone does not even recognize the Versa, so I can’t sync it!

Check the cache for Fitbit on your phone. You need to delete any cache on
the Fitbit app. Then delete the app then reinstall it. You can try to set
up your Fitbit like it's a new watch. Make sure that your phone is paired
with the watch, it can take a few goes to get this to happen. The thing
that is a must is to delete the cache on the Fitbit app before you delete
the app. It's better to try this through Wi-Fi. When you get the Fitbit
logo on your watch it can take some
Time to do updates. Keep both your phone and watch on charge. Good luck 👍

Hello! Did you find a solution? It is very frustrating. I don’t know what to do...

Yes I did, posted it on Fitbit Community along with many others. It's a bit
hit and miss, but it worked for me. The main thing is that both your phone
and watch are paired if possible then delete the cache from the Fitbit app
on your phone then re install it. Set up your watch as a new watch.

1.- Connect you Fitbit smartwatch into the USB cradle in your computer, the computer will be looking updates for the device. ( the computer will no find updates for your Fitbit smartwatch,  but keep it connected on the computer).

2.- Turn OFF the bluetooth in your smartphone.

3.- Open the Fitbit app.

4.- Turn ON the bluetooth in your smartphone

5.- Go to your account on the Fitbit app

6.- Go to add new device ( the app will ask if you want  replacement your device for the new one, press YES )

7.- After the app setup the new device you will see is an update available, do the update.

8.- In the screen on your Fitbit smartwatch you will see is making an update, wait until finished the update and the screen on your Fitbit smartwatch is normal like new.

Hope toy can fixed ,, this is what I did to fix mine.

Thanks for your help. I don’t know if it is a new iphone upgrade, but there is not such option under the Fitbit app. In Settings > General > iPhone Store > Fitbit; is an option to “off load” an to “delete” the app. I tried both, none of them worked. My iPhone resists to “see” the Versa. I wanna cry!!!  😭

Hi everyone on here who has had this issue. I also have had all the issues (notifications are up to date and it just keeps going and going and won't turn off. Then the red X data not cleared sync and try again). After trolling through all the coms i too was no closer to resolving the issue. I too did all the suggested fixes the FitBit dude said and to be honest it made the issue worse not better. In the end i could not get rid of the error message showing a red X "data not cleared sync and try again". So darn frustrating!

I have however found a fix and my fitbit is back up and working again. What a rigmarole! If you haven't already, try this within the App go to "set up a new device" which automatically removes the current device that has the error message and complete the set up process. After the set up it wouldn't turn on and therefore the APP couldn't find it (i felt defeated at this stage but ) I held the left button and the bottom right until the Fitbit logo appeared (then let go) . Voila!  my clock face appeared on the watch and now its working as normal. Phone can now see the device and the watch is not showing any error messages. Yay! I hope this fix hopes someone.

I hope this helps!

4.- Turn ON the bluetooth in your phone
5.- Go to your account on Fitbit app
6.- Add a new device ( the app will be looking for new device when find the app will ask if you want replace the existing device say yes).
7.- After add the new device you will see is an update available, just do it.
You will see in your smartwatch screen is making an update ,do not disconnect from your pc until finish the update and the smartwatch screen is normal like new.
