I purchase my wife a new Versa, to replace her lost Charge 2. It lasted about two weeks, until the screen fell off the body of the watch.
She was not doing anything energetic, just standing in a queue, when the screen separated.
Now about a month later, it has happened again. No strenuous activity just getting out of the car with handbags etc. Screen just fell off the body of the watch.
The first incident we just put down to bad luck and we were able to get it replaced by the Retail Seller (who said they had never heard the like before). But to have it again within a month with nothing that my wiffe was doing to explain why the Versa would fall apart. It wasn’t bumped, hit or otherwise rough handling.
This quality issue is a major concern and she is worried about wearing it least it should happen again and she doesn’t notice until way to late.
Apart from the unexplained trend for the Versa to fall apart on her, my wife was very happy with it, its features, battery life and all.
Would anyone else have experienced something like this
David

Some companies recall the product when they discover a design flaw like this, or at least extend the warranty period to cover complaints related to the design flaw. Fitbit, on the other hand, chooses to ignore the issue, and instead release a new model without indicating they've fixed the problem. As I've said before, my money will go to someone else in the future.

I agree. I've spent a great deal of money on various Fitbit products over the years, so I'm sad to say I will no longer purchase Fitbit products if any sort.
They really should've stepped up and made this right.
My credit card would've reimbursed me but they will not without a repair estimate. I'm told it cannot be repaired so it's my financial loss.
Oh well.
Bye bye Fitbit.

My Versa screen detached right out of warranty and while support offered me the 25% discount for the Fitbit product family, it excludes the Versa 2 and the Versa 1 is no longer available. I don't understand why I'm only being offered a discount on replacements which are much more expensive like the Ionic, or not smartwatches at all like the Charge and such. I just want a new Versa and I'm not getting anywhere with support. Given the number of folks suffering this same issue only a month out of warranty with no option to repair, I don't really feel incentivized to get another Fitbit. It's just a matter of plugging the connector back in and gluing the screen on, I don't understand why it can't be repaired!

I share your pain and frustration but unfortunately Fitbit seems to be stuck on their stance and are not really interested in helping.
My wife change her Fitbit to the Charge 3 rather than take another chance on the Versa and to this day, we don’t know if the product flaw has been fixed in the Versa 2, so we certainly won’t be trying that one either.

In my opinion, based on all the negative press as of late regarding Fitbit, they won’t be in business much longer. Any company that does not get out in front of a manufacturer defect in their products and treat their customers in such a poor manner is unacceptable. I’ve told everyone I know about my experience with the defective Versa so they won’t be getting any business from them. Here in Canada, a national news corporation has been running articles on defective Fitbit products and how the company has turned their backs on their customers. Garmin, Apple and Samsung will be happy to get all the new business from angry Fitbit customers.

Such a shame as I always relied on FITBIT providing reliable robust products. I loved my Versa until it died & was replaced & died again 😞 all within 6 months.)

I wouldn’t mind reading some of those news articles, because we have not heard anything like that in Australia

This happened to mine 14 months after purchasing directly from Fitbit, obviously two months out of warranty. I paid $229, needless to say a little disappointed.

I've had problems with my Versa the first month I got it. Yesterday, all of a sudden the screen fell off the body of the watch. I'm not sure what happened as I was just wearing it going about my typing on my laptop.
It's too bad that this is a persistent problem with this device and Fitbit doesn't care. I won't be getting anymore Fitbit products at this point.

I have purchased a new Apple Watch 5 and absolutely love it! No more Fitbit products for me. Had they looked after me properly with the defective Versa, I would have stayed a customer.

I’ve had the same issue. It’s 18 months since I bought it so out of warranty. I don’t do any vigorous activity just golf and walking. The face has just fallen out. Having read all this the product is clearly defective. Fitbit should withdraw the product from sale and refund all customers who bought it or issue a replacement product from their range which does not have the defect. What a PR disaster for this company.

well the Versa has a new model “Versa 2” so the original is no longer available, but the main thing is that no one knows if the Versa 2 suffers the same. defect or not, beacause Fitbit is just not saying anything.
i wouldn’t take the risk myself.

Whelp, this just happened to me. I guess they designed these things to fail right after the warranty ends. No more Fitbit for me

You are luckier than my wife in one sense, yours lasted more that 12 months, my wife went through 5 or six In 10 months before we decided to exchange it for the Charge 3.
Your frustration is totally understandable.

The same thin happened to me twice; once in April 2019, the face got dettached and I got a replacement and a couple weeks ago it happened again! I never swim with it or do anything strenuous, it is really weird.

This has just occurred to me for the second time today. I had the same situation as you, David. No strenuous activity, I'm careful with the watch, everything. But the screen just fell off. Brought it into Noel Leemings and they said they'd never heard of it happening before either. And that was a while ago, and they had replaced it. This watch has lasted me a long time and now the screen has fallen off again.
For all of the Versa's cool and useful features, the screen seems poorly attached. Yet, it seems like the screen falling off is something that rarely happens, that or people just don't talk about it. What are we doing differently?
