Versa screen separates from body of the watch

I purchase my wife a new Versa, to replace her lost Charge 2.  It lasted about two weeks, until the screen fell off the body of the watch.

She was not doing anything energetic, just standing in a queue, when the screen separated.

Now about a month later, it has happened again. No strenuous activity just getting out of the car with handbags etc. Screen just fell off the body of the watch.

The first incident we just put down to bad luck and we were able to get it replaced by the Retail Seller (who said they had never heard the like before).  But to have it again within a month with nothing that my wiffe was doing to explain why the Versa would fall apart.  It wasn’t bumped, hit or otherwise rough handling.

This quality issue is a major concern and she is worried about wearing it least it should happen again and she doesn’t notice until way to late.

Apart from the unexplained trend for the Versa to fall apart on her, my wife was very happy with it, its features, battery life and all.

Would anyone else have experienced something like this

Nope my screen fell off 2 times. The 2nd one they sent the screen fell off before I could even put the watch on.

I wish you well.  This is my 3rd Fitbit Versa replacement, so far it's holding up.

My husband bought me a versa for Mother’s Day, 2018. I have had to replace it twice so far, due to the face & body popping away from the band. This morning, 3/26/19, the face/guts of the THIRD one popped off. I’m so disappointed & frustrated. As with the other two, I was not doing anything strenuous. Other than this, I love this watch & all its features but for this price, I should not have to replace it ever few months!

This happened to me today! I have almost had the watch a year. I've gone running, swimming, HIIT workouts and never had a problem. Today while shaving my legs it fell out and got water in it so it doesn't work. Hoping the rice trick works but pulled out my old HR Charge 2...

@Samrunning52 it would be really great if Fitbit commented on this issue.

Has anyone heard if the new Versa model has this issue too?

Contact fitbit. If you haven’t had it a year, they may replace it. Good luck.

I'm on my 4th Versa in a year for the same issue. The only solution customer support would offer me was half off another watch. What would I spend more money on a potentially defective product?   I would have considered if they would have at least given me a credit for the full price of the versa.   Never again will I purchase a fitbit product.

Totally understandable. They are showing a fair bit of contempt for their customers on this issue. No one from Fitbit has even acknowledged the issue or even if they are bothering to look into th cause.

IKR??? My husband said he’d buy me another one. I’m thinking, “WHY?” To continue to replace this defective product, we should just buy an Apple Watch! It’s frustrating to know how frequent this happens. First time, I thought it was a fluke. I was literally doing NOTHING. Both subsequent times, also doing nothing. (My activity level info from the watch will show that!) 😫 Judy

Yes, so I'm on my last one. I know it won't be replaced because my year warranty is over.  I did buy the protective cover someone posted with Hope's that it will keep it together. Sent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone

I'm on my 2nd fitbit Versa and my screen just came off, this has to go down as a known defect, I went for a relaxed swim, set the exercise to swim off I went, half a length in and I caught a flash of silver from the insides of the watch while underwater - water damaged obviously.

got my versa as a gift almost 11 months ago and the replacement about 5 months ago so while I'd like it replaced, I'm feeling relatively certain it won't last ...unless you're using it as a regular watch as it's not coming off as very sturdy at all ...so I might as well switch to a more durable fitness watch, this is actually my 3rd Fitbit fail in quick succession starting from a charge HR to my second Versa after a long and happy life with my Pebble mach 1 kickstarter edition.

once it's come off you'll notice the adhesion is clearly lacking, found no sticky residue whatsoever, there's barely anything holding it together and no screws either.

My first Versa had a screen protector and that doesn't help the screen separating issue ...nor should it need to.

Well, off to customer support now.

Hello,

At some point you'd think Fitbit would address the issue, concerning our posts.  In the meantime,  contact  Fitbit customer service department, for a replacement.

Good luck!

@trunker ,

All the best, my wife is on her fourth Versa.  You would really think that Fitbit would comment on this issue.

Well its official, my wife’s 4th Versa’s screen has just fallen off again.  So that will make it 5 Versa’s in less than 12 months.

This is absolutely ridiculous and a clear demonstration of poor quality control.

Again not doing anything strenuous, just normal casual activity.

Back to the retailer to get a replacement under Australian Consumer.  I’ll also bet that we still won’t hear from any official Fitbit resource to explain why this keeps happening. 😡

SOOOOO FRUSTRATING!!! I’m glad that others can confirm that this happens during times of little/no activity, although, as a FITNESS TRACKER, it certainly should hold up even during strenuous exercise. I just got my 3rd replacement. No word from fitbit. 😡😡😡😡😡 I’m seriously doubting there are any improvements in the works.
