Versa short battery life....

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have received my Versa Thursday and after 2 hours of charging it. The battery got drained within 6 hours. I have charge it on a PC. last night, slept with the watch to wake up to see my watch is down to 0%. Any other user having this problem? Should I waiy for an update to correct that or its a harware problem. Thank you for your answers.

Just an update on battery life. I am at the end of my return window with Amazon, so gave the Versa a last chance. Followed support's possible solution of letting the Versa drain until unresponsive before charging to 100% (plus half an hour). I did this cycle three times, with each time actually showing increased battery life. Happy to report that after 3 days (72 hrs), it still has 40% capacity - so I guess the battery needed calibration. Caveat is that, IMO, the sleep tracking has a lot to do with battery drain if the Versa cannot find you (sleep tracking was hit or miss for me, <50% tracked). So I started wearing it higher on my wrist and a little more snug, and voila! It now reported my FULL sleep cycles the last two nights.

There are a couple of annoyances for me still though, like the weather and Nest apps not working at all, which I hope will get fixed. Tomorrow is my last day to return for full refund, but I'm leaning toward keeping it.

edit: sad to say that I decided to return the Versa. After this post yesterday, notifications decided to stop working altogether! I tried everything short of another factory reset of the Versa which seems to be the only thing that works to get notifications to work - I have done this a few times now, and it's tedious. I like the product only if it's reliable enough. Will try again when Fitbit fixes most of the issues.

With so many issues and now been told the Versa I’ve been waiting for ( replacement) is on back order 4 weeks. I’ve decided to get my refund and move forward with the Apple Watch.

Just hit the 4-day mark with 24% left.  My super-scientific calculations say I'll get to the end of a 5th day.

Moderate usage - occasional exercise tracking, using alarms and timers.  Not using other apps much.

Using battery draining items:  3rd-party watchface; Quick-view on for last 2 days.

Not using auto-sync.

3rd party watchface no noticeable drain; quick-view adds 2-3% drain per day.

So, fairly satisfied.  Will cease posting  unless something comes up...

Omgggg! I thought it was just me! The exact same issue is happening with my Versa. After the last update, battery is draining within 2 days!!! 😞

I've noted that if you restart the watch it sometimes rids itself of weirdness.  (press single button and bottom together; wait till you see the fitbit logo steadily displaying [it flashes on once]; let it sit.  It will take 20+ seconds to fully restart.)

I returned my Versa and got a new one. I thought I’d give it one more try. The new one works FLAWLESSLY! Some of these just don’t work for what ever reason!

Okay, final answer.

Started re-charge at exact end of day 5 of last recharge - at 7%.  So 5 full days. During those days I had two days with Quick View on.

I tracked the % of battery used each day.  During the above run I measured that the watch uses ~0.71% per hour without quick view.  I also measured that the watch uses ~1% per hour with Quick View on.

So, with Quick View, 24hr uses 24% per above, thus 4 days uses 96%.  So, with quick view on you get 4 days with 4% left - as advertised.

But, keeping quick view off, you can get ~5.8 days.

NB: I had a 3rd party watchface on during the whole time.  I did not notice any battery loss during some random trials earlier.  Perhaps there is a minor drag due to the watchface (Gauges by COSS), but I didn't see it.

I find that my Fitbit versa battery drains after the recent update! (May 2018, the one that allows you to reply to text messages from the watch).

I charged it to 100% last night and when I woke up it has only 48% remaining. I've already tried the suggestions from the other posts but no improvements.

(1) all day sync is off

(2) clock face is the default

(3) I have performed a factory reset

What I want to know is whether there's an issue with the most recent software update or if the problem is with the hardware itself.

NB: the battery life before the software update wasn't great but still lasted up to 2.5 days. Now it won't even last for one full day!

Anyone else has the same problem?

Same boat as you - battery life now on par with Apple Watch.  Problem is, the Versa isn't as good as an Apple Watch... I bought it for the battery. Which now is awful.

Same issue with battery now not lasting even one day!

Has anyone contacted Fitbit support? Or are we waiting around hoping the next update will fix this?

I think we'll simply have to wait till the next update comes out.  Some people have the .20 update.  I am running the .15 firmware and the battery's been terrible since I installed it.

Is there a way to retro-install the old version I wonder??  Worked great then...

Best Answer

Im running the .15 version too and I can't agree more on the battery life being terrible. I wish I could go back to the previous version too. Please let me Know if you find a way!

I think Versa is a lovely tracker itself. Finger crossed they fix this problem soon!

I'm glad to see your response re: 3rd party clock faces. I just got my versa Thursday night and started wearing it Friday and my battery is already dead. I figured it might be partly due to using clock faces that change the weather. Your response confirmed my thought so I am hoping the battery last longer after tonight's charge.
