Normally it shows I burn somewhere between 2000 and 2500 calories a day, which is probably broadly right. Suddenly on Friday it started showing much higher readings - 14000 on Friday, 15000 yesterday, and 7000 by 2pm today. I haven’t been particularly active, I’ve been at work all of those days. None of my data has changed. I’m obviously not burning that many calories - any ideas?
Thanks

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @Coldilox.
I appreciate your participation in the Forums and sharing that your Fitbit Versa started to show extremely high calories burned. Thank you for providing the additional details and confirming that your data hasn't changed. I recommend restarting your watch by following the steps from this help article: How do I restart my Fitbit device? This will refresh your device internally.
Let me know how it goes, I'll be around.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @Minchie.
Thank you for joining the thread and sharing that you're experiencing the same issue. I appreciate your troubleshooting efforts and recommend to manually sync your watch: How do I manually sync my tracker or watch? Please also confirm if you have another tracker paired to your Fitbit account or if you manually logged any activity as this can affect your stats.
Hope this helps.

Good morning. I have my very first Fitbit i purchase 5 years ago. It works perfectly, but as human we like new things. I have a Charge 4 and I have a Verse 2...I also had a Verse, but it died completely a week before my warranty expired. Let's talk about these calories. Each morning I reach for one of the two of my watches. Each watch has somewhere between 300-600 calories burned before I can make a step. I'm getting feed up with deducting numbers at the end of the day. Yes, I reset them suckers a couple of time. I don't think as a customer I should have to constantly reboot or reset anything I paid for. Can you ask Fitbit Corporation to go back with the old techs who design these watches. Mostly likely I will be returning these items.

Good luck I restarted my Verse 2 and Charge 4 and still the same problem. How about they put a calculator in these watches so we can deduct number at the end of our day.
Update:
I'm over Fitbit. I have a Charge 4 and Verse 2, the same problem on both devices.

Yes I have a charge 2. Doesn’t do half the things that the versa 2 does but it’s got a crack so thought I’d get a new one before it dies (not waterproof)
The charge 2 was much easier to use but I love the versa 2 which I got for Xmas.
Anyway, feeling stupid as I had entered my weight wrong a few days ago - adding 1,000 lb!!
Hence the calorie hike.
Hope you’ve got yours sorted 🙂

It’s good to see you in the community, @Jdenson. Thank you for your reply, @Minchie.
@Minchie I am glad to hear that you were able to resolve this issue and thank you for sharing what you did as it may help other members in the same situation. Thank you for your time and efforts.
@Jdenson Thank you for joining the thread and sharing the details of the issue you're experiencing. I understand how you are feeling and appreciate your troubleshooting efforts. The value that you see on your device when you wake up in the morning is your estimated calorie burn for the day so far. You still burn calories even if you have been sedentary or were sleeping. We estimate your calorie burn based on your age, gender, height and weight. For more information on how your device calculates calories, see How does my Fitbit device calculate calories burned?
Hope this helps.

Hi
Yes, you would burn calories all day and night whether or not you wear a Fitbit or any other tracker.
That’s your BMR.
Your watches are synced so the 300 showing is the total estimate - not 600. Hope that helps.

You do burn calories while sleeping. Your Fitbit will estimate the value based on your profile - height, weight, age. Maybe earlier versions didn’t do this.
I don’t know if you can turn this feature off or not. Have to ask someone else.
Hope this helps.

Looks like it estimates 50 calories an hour (which is about right for me).
It doesn’t stop working when you take it off.
The total burnt in 24 hours is then more accurate.

It’s making an estimate of what you burn which depends on your height, weight, age which you have put in your profile. It syncs to this so there will always be a number even when you don’t wear it.
It’s not monitoring, it makes an adjustment. If you didn’t wear it all day it would show your BMR calories, which is what your body uses to stay alive!
Basically, you will always be burning calories and your watch will show them.
Maybe early Fitbits didn’t do this but all smart watches do now.

It syncs with the app so it knows or estimates that you have burned 300+ since midnight. Can’t tell you any more than that.

I dont think you're understanding. Breathing burns calories. Your fitbit is estimating how many calories you have burned by breathing. So leaving it on your dresser plugged in, will still show you burned calories because you do, with every breath. The only way to not burn calories is to be dead. Bed ridden people burn calories. Older trackers didnt have this feature. Newer ones do. It's not the same as active minutes or active calories burned, it's just calories burned. The reason the recommended amount of calories to consume in a day is 2500 is because the average healthy person burns 2500 calories a day, without moving.
