Versa stopped syncing with phone

I've been having syncing issues with my Versa (like quite a few others who have been complaining about it) for almost a month now and I just had an update for the Fitbit app on my Galaxy S8. Thinking updating the app would fix the syncing problems I proceeded, but alas, my Versa still would not sync. So after trying every single possible thing suggested in all these posts where people are having syncing issues, I was down to my last resort- a factory reset. Well, the factory reset didn't even work. I am now stuck with a tracker that only shows a red x and "data not cleared; sync and try again". Once again, after perusing through other posts with this similar issue and trying to reset my Versa numerous times, the red x and message are still there, and my phone cannot find my device for it to sync (which, as I stated above, it's been having problems doing for weeks!). Yes, I've removed the device from my account, disconnected the Bluetooth, restarted my phone, deleted and reinstalled the Fitbit app, my phone OS is up to date, my Versa software is up to date; I've done everything I can think of. This is extremely frustrating because this thing was not cheap; it seems like way too many people are having syncing issues and it feels like nothing is being done to find a solution that works for everyone; every Fitbit tracker I've owned doesn't seem to last more than a year and a half, and every time an issue arises that cannot be fixed, my tracker is conveniently out of warranty. I do not plan on replacing this tracker with another Fitbit device if nothing can be done to fix my latest problem.

(sorry for the rant, I'm just frustrated and tired of dealing with these problems)

I am experiencing the same issue since the Versa firmware update.

I updated to the Versa from Charge 2 because of this problem.  Glad to know it is not fixable and will not invest in another Fitbit.

Hi all... I'm new to forums and hope I'm doing this right. I am in absolute agreement that this is an update issue, totally non-related to phone types or settings. I own a Samsung Note 9, and Samsung tablet, both are synced with my Fitbit. I just purchased a new Versa Lite a couple months ago, and this is my 4th Fitbit. No problems at all until the latest update. I've followed the instructions for re-syncing... Still not staying synced thru the day.  Okay, Fitbit... This ball is in your court now!

I am having the same problem - my Versa worked great until this last firmware update I updated it and it stopped syncing - well once in a blue moon it will sync but since they suggested I do a factory reset nada.  Now it's an expensive paperweight.  I did EVERY thing they said down to factory reset and it just will not sync.  My Versa fell apart in April and I bought it in May 2018 so they replaced the watch under the 1 year warranty and this one I've only had since April of 2019 and they said they will not replace this one because the replaced by first one but hey they will give me 25% off all their old trackers.  Every fitbit I have had has somehow broken right after the first year.  I've tried but I am going to have to call it quits and try a different watch.

Smae issue here. After the last update my Versa will no longer sync for more than a day or so before messes up. It also will get wildly off on the time, and repeatedly will only show stats in negative numbers. I'm tired of spending hours trying to resync, reset the watch, repair, ad nauseam....ive contacted Fitbit support and was basically told since I have an LG V30 "too bad so sad". So now I have an expensive piece of crap I paid over $200 for that will now sit in my desk drawer gathering dust.

I've decided to replace it with the Amazfit GTS... I will never buy another Fitbit product again. And forget the other 3 fitbits I WAS going to buy for my husband and two daughters for Christmas this year. Fitbit customer service is utterly abysmal.

I'm at that point myself. Thinking I'll get rid of the Phone and go with something other than Fitbit! Frustrated!!

I’m on my second Fitbit  both of which have last roughly 1 year each... I won’t be buying another one either!

I actually ended up replacing my Versa with the Samsung Galaxy Active 2. I LOVE it. Zero problems with pairing and syncing. Bought my daughters the Xiaomi Mi Band 4.  No pairing nor syncing problems on those either.

Screw you Fitbit.

Agreed last update screwed up synching. I found that if you restart versa (pain) and have a full charge it will synch then. I know this is not the correct solution, but it works for now (until fitbit gets its act together).

Did you buy your device straight from Fitbit or from another retailer?
Buying from Fitbit you only get 12 month warranty but I found that as I bought mine from John Lewis I actually had a 24 month warranty.. not that it mattered for me either way as mine was barely 8 months old!
fitbit replaced mine...but as their warranty policy states they are aloud to replace with refurbished products and the fact that I have had 2 Fitbit’s that haven’t lasted more than 12 months each m not exactly hopeful that this one will last either... I don’t plan on buying another one when this one stops working..: I think I will probably pay out the extra money and get an Apple Watch as many of my friends and family have them and don’t seem to have any problems with them at all

I have had at least 3 pebbles at this point.   I dont get them wet. I dont shower with them.  I take very good care... But once the time loss starts happening... Death is on its way.  I go through the same routine to get a new one.  Honestly just thinking of getting an Apple Watch at this point.  I believe in you guys please tell me what is happening?

I find that when fitbit and phone are almost fully charged and I have restarted both, syncing usually awakes. Good luck.

This was a replacement versa lite sent to me 3 weeks ago but cannot sync it with the phone. The versa just has the turquoise diamond in the middle and keeps rolling through different languages to sync to phone but watch isn't doing anything else.

Make sure both watch and phone are fully charged and restart both. Be safe

I have recently discovered that all of my replacement pebbles (4)I received began working if I let them sit for a while (days). So my new idea is to remove the watch from your app, Bluetooth, charge them both, and reboot them both 10 times (I’m guessing) and try to re- add to the app. This might work for this problem. This is based on what might’ve happened to make mine work after the watch was disconnected and sat over time.

I really hope this helps!

I ended up buying a versa2 and then making all but 1 of my versa1 pebbles working after I discovered this trick. That was very frustrating, but now I have my own warranty replacement stock.

It's a mistake to buy this gadget.

I'm having the SAME EXACT issues.  I've only had this since September and really loved it, BUT NOW I don't know what to do.  Could really use some help to resolve this problem.
