Versa stopping in the middle of exercise

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I've been using my Versa during my weight and interval training.  It keeps stopping part way through.  I'll look at it to check heart rate, or time and it's back to the main clock face without saving anything to that point.

Really like the Versa for lots of reasons, but this is enough to make me send it back and go back to my Blaze...

Mine is doing the same thing multiple times regardless of what I'm doing. It's just done it 4 times while I've been watching tv for an hour. It comes black on with a black screen and vibrates once then takes ages to load any stats.

Yesterday my device did not reboot during my workout.  However, today it did it twice.  i noticed a reboot about 20 minutes in, and when it came back up, i started the workout app again and started a workout.  Towards the end of my workout - about 20 minutes again - it rebooted again.  It logged everything, except for the few minutes that were spent during the reboot.  Tomorrow, i am going to try see what happens when i let it auto-detect the workout, rather than going into the app and starting it manually.  Hopefully, that will narrow the issue down to the workout app being the problem.  Still on the fence about whether or not to return the device.......If i knew for certain that it was software, i wouldn't mind waiting.  I just don't want to be stuck with a device that has a hardware problem and cannot be fixed with a software update.

Got my third reboot during a workout yesterday. Versa had ~49% battery remaining when I started the elliptical activity (auto laps @ 5 mins) started from the exercise applet. Approximately 50 minutes in it rebooted.

Not too long before the reboot I received a notification from my phone and then the goal reached celebration - so maybe it's related to waking the screen during a running activity? (I have screen wake set to manual.)

In this instance nothing was recorded to the activity log, but manually adding it after the fact shows data for the entire time.

Based on this I'm still guessing that it might be related to battery life (I've only seen it occur when <50%) and/or waking the screen - but that's complete conjecture.

In my case, it doesn't appear to have anything to do with battery.  Yesterday i had a 55 minute workout and no reboots with 20% battery.  This morning, the battery was 94% and rebooted twice.

Going to add my voice to this thread as well.

I had one occurrence of it stopping when swimming, about 38 minutes into the workout after I had triggered the Exercise. When I finished one of my laps, I noticed that the watch was just on the Fitbit logo and am not sure why it happened. I triggered one more swim after that which should have been for about 6 minutes but that also stopped too. For the final swim workout, I was able to finish it successfully with about 17 minutes.

My results from my swim workout yesterday:

  1. 37 minutes - One Restart
  2. 6 Minutes - No Logging
  3. 17 minutes - Finished Manually

My Pebble 2's seal apparently gave out during yesterday's morning swim. Versa was the planned replacement, so I had it by noon. For today's workout, I set it for a 50m lap and then sprinted. When I got to the wall: a) It didn't register anything at the end of the first lap. b) It immediately rebooted.

Same here, 1/2 hour into my hike, it rebooted and I lost data for that 1/2 hour 😩

Like i stated in my previous post......tomorrow i am not going to initiate the workout through the exercise app - i am going to let the watch auto-detect and see if i get a reboot.  It's not ideal, but it may help prove the exercise app is the issue.  has anyone tried this?

Mine rebooted 6 freaking times at work last night. It happened while I was listening to pandora and any time I brought my wrist up to check the time it cut off and rebooted. I talked to fitbit support last night, they want me to do a factory reset today and see if that helps. They said no one else was having this problem, ughhh

I did a complete factory reset (including deleting the fitbit app from my phone and reinstalling) on Saturday.  Since then, **knock on wood** I've not had a reboot.  BUT I'm on a "rest" week, so all my workouts are short and include lots of low impact stretching or just jogging.  So none of these individual workouts have gone beyond the 35 minute mark which is where my Versa seemed to be having trouble.  I think it's worth a shot for all of you who are still having the issue!

Next week I go back to weights and HIIT with long runs in between, so I'll have a better feel for if the factory reset actually worked!

I am sure support will be useless......but i would point them to this thread, so they can log that many people are having this problem.

I factory reset mine today and it's been working great! Fingers crossed it continues to work great. I don't want to have to factory reset it every week

I did my workout this morning and let fitbit auto-detect the exercise, rather than starting it with the app.  no reboots today.  I am going to do this for a few days to try to narrow it down to an issue with the exercise app itself.  I was going to try to remove and re-install the exercise app, however that does not seem to be an option.

That's interesting!  Anxious to hear if that works.  Since my factory reset I haven't had the issue.  My run this morning was 40 minutes and it worked fine.  I'm wondering if the reboot has anything to do with tapping the face during the workout to check a different stat?  For instance, I'll check time of day or HR or elapsed time.  I've been trying to not mess with it at all during my workouts since resetting it.

Update.....never had an issue when allowing versa to recognize the exercise.  Went back to using the exercise app and the reboots started again.  I then uninstalled all unnecessary apps, including the pre-installed ones, like starbucks.  Have not had any reboots using the exercise app since then.

I found my problem was.one of the clock faces. Everyone seemed to be having the same issue with that exact clock face. I'm stickin to clock faces made by fitbit from now on

I just bought my Versa this week and so far it has crashed twice during workouts. Today during my spin class it vibrated, the screen went grey and it returned to the home clock face with no sign of my workout.. I'm using a fitbit made clock face.. so frustrated.

I've not had any problems since I did a factory reset on mine. I'd certainly give that a shot! I also completely removed the app from my cell phone and completely reinstalled it.

Good luck!

I used my Versa for the first time for a treadmill run and it kept pausing while I was still moving. I'm hoping I just need to turn off the GPS feature when I use the treadmill. I really like the Versa otherwise, and have promised my Blaze to my sister :-D. I have a photo of my kids as my clock face. I normally don't actually activate "run" on my fitbit becuase I use the NikePlus app. on my phone, but my phone was charging, and I couldn't wait.
