Versa stopping in the middle of exercise

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I've been using my Versa during my weight and interval training.  It keeps stopping part way through.  I'll look at it to check heart rate, or time and it's back to the main clock face without saving anything to that point.

Really like the Versa for lots of reasons, but this is enough to make me send it back and go back to my Blaze...

I had exactly the same problem. It vibrated, I ignored it. I looked at it a few minutes later to check the stats n found the clock.

I guess, I'll reboot n check if the stat appears. Though this is the 1st incident for me in about 2 months.

I've been experiencing this problem off an on since May/June.  I've posted as much to this thread.  3 weeks ago, when I was traveling for work, my Versa battery died.  (I forgot to pack my charger)  Since then, I've used is 5 or 6 times and it has not reset on me during my workouts.  I'm not suggesting this is the solution, but I wanted to let those interested know my experience.  I can only suggest that my battery dying is similar to a factory reset???  I will continue to post updates if it resets on me in the next couple weeks.  I also noted there was a new iOS app update around the same time.  This could also have addressed some of the issues.  Like others have posted, I'm a little confused why no one from fitbit has commented on this thread.  Obviously its a common problem.

I've been experiencing this same problem since I got the versa in June.  For me it seems to happen during yoga class.  At first I thought I inadvertently pressed something and stopped the workout.  But after it happened several more times I realized the versa was stopping on its own.  Today it happened twice.  The first was 15 minutes into the class so I restarted the exercise tracker.  The second was at the end of class.  I have learned to check the watch periodically and visually record the time and calories in case of these glitches.  This is very frustrating and you are not alone...

This has happened to me a couple times, but I assumed it was because my lifting gloves or anything else around my wrist at the time pushed the button just right. So I try to put the fitbit a little further up, not fasten the left glove or put my road ID on my right wrist. Not helpful, I know, but something to consider next time it happens.

Is Fitbit not addressing the issue? All week my watch has reset itself to the main screen during mid workout. Thankfully it does record what I am doing, I just want all info recording without stopping. This is seriously making me want an Apple Watch.

To the best of my knowledge, there isn't a fix. I've factory reset mine a couple of times and reinstalled the app on my phone. That seemed to help. I've not had it happen in a long time.

Good luck!

@1sikan @Shanionie @kysmom02 I hope you're doing well! Sorry to hear that your exercise is being interrupted. What type of exercise were you doing? For how long were your performing this exercise? Did it include GPS tracking? Were you listening to music? You can always try restarting your Versa and see that no contact is being made with it that may exit the exercise mode.

I look forward to your reply!

At the time I was having problems, I had used the weights setting and it would restart. I've since completely reset the fitbit and my app. Now, I just use the workout setting and I've not had problems in a long time.

I just experience this problem on Sunday when I was trying to track my run.  I opened the run exercise tracking app and waited for it to connect to my phone.  (said it was connected)  I started my run and after .1 miles it kicked out.  It vibrate and then killed my tracking.  I started the exercise app again and it recorded the rest of my run, but it was incomplete. (tracked on the map, but the distance was wrong)   Let's leave the incomplete issue for the moment, because I would like to start with getting the exercise tracking to consistently stay on.  When I look at my fitbit app fitness history, I can see two different tracked runs.  One for .1 miles and the other for the rest.  This has honestly been a problem starting around my initial post in June of 2018.  I've reset my device, removed apps, and so much more, but nothing has helped. It's very rare to finish a 4 or 5 mile run without it crashing.  Sometimes at the beginning of the run and other times at the end.

Mine died on me yesterday at exactly the 0.5 mile mark of a run.  GPS was connected; I was listenting to music from the phone (not the Versa) via Bluetooth headset.  It crashed out and then the exercise app auto-started and recorded the rest of the run.  I show two runs that day--the first half mile, and then the rest, right after each other, which is interesting because in past cases it just never recorded anything.  There was no contact being made as I had nothing else on my wrist or arm.

It did this to me on Wednesday morning as well, doing a generic "workout" exercise without GPS connected.

Things had been good about this for a while, though in the past I've seen it crash out (like, saw it crash back to watch face as I was looking at it).  Nothing touching the screen or buttons.

I did contact Fitbit. My phone needed to update the latest version. They did something on there end and had me reset my watch a couple of times and the last two times, my watch did not stop during my workout 🙂

I’ve not had a problem for the last few weeks.  I’m hoping there was a fix in one of their updates.

Prior or to that, doing a hard reset before exercise seemed to work. Not a very sexy fix, but it did seem to work.

Again, no issue for me over the last few weeks.

My Versa also stopped functioning like it should during exercises. Especially when I go for a run it stops tracking my heart rate like 5 minutes into the run. The lights on the back of the Versa also stopped flashing and the only solution at that point is to perform a reset.

Are there any fixes for this? Because it kinda sucks going for an hour run, coming home and find out it hasn't tracked 55 minutes.

I finally purchased the Ionic. I've given up on my Versa working at all. It wouldn't ever connect on my long runs. I'd get maybe 10-15 minutes of hour long + runs.

Does anybody have a fix for why the Versa is stopping now in the middle of an exercise and resetting to the clock face?

The only fix I found was to turn off "All-Day Sync". I have not had an issue with the watch stopping mid-exercise since I changed that setting. The downside is I now have to manually sync my workout to my phone....

I turned off all of the "lap" settings for all workouts and since then I haven't had problems with it stopping or crashing out.  Assuming I remember to start the exercise app, it runs till I'm done (where hopefully I remember to stop it).

My versa recorded 5 mins of my run this eve, then went to watch screen, I lost all the data from the rest of the run. Last run it didn’t record my heart rate, it’s been fine up till now I’ve had it for 7 months with one or two crashed.

I think this is a glitch, that I thought they were working on, but it's been a while. I find that when this happens to me, it occurs within the first two minutes on my elliptical or biking. When it makes it that far, it usually goes the entire time. So, I check it every 30 seconds when I first start until I hit the 2:30 minute mark. The occasions it stops I reset it.
