Versa stops tracking exercise after 10 km and still has syncing issues

Versa was 3rd generation of Fitbit for me. I started in 2014 with Fitbit Charge (It didn’t survive 50m depth - my fault), in 2016 I bought Fitbit Blaze (display died after 2 years). They both worked perfectly at the last minute. Pretty long battery, all functions fully functional ... 110% satisfaction.

Now I bought Versa and ... Versa went 3 times to the factory setting for the first 4 days. The problem with the Bluetooth that you can goggle in a minute is actually even worse than you are able to google.

Furthermore I ride a 10km bike and exercise tracking turns off… find the subjects like “Sync issues while GPS connected”.

You want something more? Synchronization with the phone works only until I sit in the car ... and they say that it could be a phone or car error??? Clockface, which is about 1000 for Verse, looks perfect. But some developers want to pay a dollar or two after a couple of days. You don’t have the ability to send the money in the Czech republic (Wallet app doesn’t work in our country). Solutions = factory settings.

The fact is that my car (ML350) and mobile (iPhone 7) works on Bluetooth with more devices with no error, including the both previous Fitbits… with Versa no way. So the conclusion: one star for Versa, because some clockface are really cool ... pity they only work for a few days.

Hi @Miki27

Usually when there is an existing thread, it's best to post your updates to it and not in a new thread. I merged your latest post to the original one you posted earlier in the month.

I'm sure @RobertoME or one of the moderators on the forums will see this and respond.

Hi there @Miki27, welcome aboard to the Fitbit Community! I was reading your 10km bike exercise is not completely recorded due to the exercise keep stopping in addition to the syncing issues you are experiencing. I'm wondering if you have tried to troubleshoot this issue on your own. Perhaps a restart on your tracker to address the GPS issues and following these other suggestion for syncing will help you to track you exercise better: Why won't my Fitbit device sync?

If the syncing fails when you are in your car, is possible that if your car has option to connect your phone through bluetooth, it may interfere with the syncing of your tracker.

Regarding the clock faces I appreciate the feedback, nonetheless apps or clock faces that  are not from Fitbit, are made by independent developers and it will depend on them the time or if is required to pay for its use.

Also I'm not sure if I get this right, but clock faces are independent from the Fitbit Pay option. These feature is not require to pay for clock faces; since again, it will depend of the payment method the developer has chose.

See you later and hope this helps.

Hi Roberto, many thanks for your reply. I need to say, that I’m really disappointed with Versa. Previous Charge and Blaze were perfect products, but Versa is very far away from useable product.

Before you ask me, if I walked through all troubleshooting I have to say...

  1. Removing Versa from the app. Yes, I did.
  2. Disconnecting Versa from my iPhone. Yes, I did.
  3. Restarting my iPhone. Yes, I did.
  4. Restarting Versa. Yes, I did.
  5. Disconnecting all other devices from my iPhone. Yes, I did.
  6. Restarting my bike, car, TV, washing machine, smoothie maker... Yes, I did.
  7. Send Versa to factory settings. Yes, I did.
  8. Connecting Versa as the FIRST and the ONLY one device to my iPhone. Yes, I did.
  9. Testing track different activities with GPS on or off. Yes, I did.

And the result is still the same. I need to restart Versa at least twice a day a I’m NOT able to track ANY activity for more than 20 mins. Furthermore... It’s strange that Versa is not able to track my bike but I have more then 10 000 steps and 50 floors each day. I don’t understand how Versa can track steps and floors when I’m ON THE BIKE???

Another experience with this SMART watch... Versa automatically tracked my bike exercise twice on Sunday. Can anyone tell me why Versa decided to do it, when I was visiting a museum in Peeneminde almost all day??? ...visiting on my foot with my family.

Check these videos to see how unstable the connection is:

I did NOT have similar problems with the Blaze. It had been connected for 2 years to the same phone and the same account. The phone has been connected to the same car, bluetooth speakers and other stuff. If there is a problem, it must be definitely problem of the Versa, that is not able to create quality bluetooth connection with my iPhone. I don’t want to reconnect everything every time when I sit to my car and make a call.

All written above proves that Versa I bought two weeks ago is definitely bad product and the question is, if this is a problem of my piece only or you should apology to all buyers. I’m going to send it back to the shop and hope they will give me my money back. If not, I ask you to refund. Or do you have other solution?

No one from Fitbit found the courage to respond to my query ... I will submit a new question, maybe they will respond. If so, I'll add the link here.

Update:

No one from Fitbit has replied my post for weeks! I have just one option, to post it again WITH MORE INFORMATION on sync issues of Versa...

Hi there @Miki27, I owe you a big apology for the late response and thank you for sharing all the details of the issue you are experiencing. Also I appreciate you have uploaded some video to demonstrate the issue.

There are some of your concerns that are the way the Versa works. Some Clock faces are not made by Fitbit but by independent developers and they may charge for the use of this clock faces. This is not under our control as it will depend of each developer.

Fitbit Pay, is true that is not available in all countries. We're constantly striving to improve the Fitbit Pay experience, and we are interested in hearing more about the banks you'd like to see on the list of supported banks. Please consider adding your bank to the Fitbit Pay Feature Suggestion board.

With SmartTrack recording a bike activity, depending of the actions like driving a car, the vibrations of the road or engine can be translated by your Versa like you were riding a bike. In these scenarios the best is just to delete the exercise from your Fitbit Dashboard.

Now if is recording steps and floors, while you are doing a bike exercise this is normal behavior. We have received feedback for this, so if you are interested in this change make sure toi review the updates provided for this idea here: Option to remove steps earned when cycling.

Going back to the main topic with syncing or your Versa stops recording your exercise after 20 minutes, I was able to reach out to our Support Team and they confirmed that someone will be getting in touch with you via email to the address in your Community profile within the next 24-48 hours to further assist you. We do not handle concerns of refunds thought the Fitbit Community, for more details about this feel free to visit our Returns & Warranty section.

Thank you @Odyssey13 for your assistance in merging the posts and for bringing this to my attention.

Hoping to hear some good news soon!

Hi Roberto, Bluetooth connection still works 50/50. Excuses to interfering with other devices are nonsense. My previous Fitbit Blaze worked perfectly with the same devices around.
I don't  understand why I need internet connection to track biking. I have perfect GPS signal in mountains but mobile signal is usually very limited if you are surrounded by high hills. Then it doesn't make sense to use Verse for tracking any activity where the mobile signal is weak. So I can use Versa to track my journey to buy a milk. That's all.

My Fitbit Versa 2 was working perfectly for what I had been using it for the basic stuff. My watch is still counting steps, Alexa won’t connect I have headphones that show but won’t connect, I fully charged the watch and tried restarting a Versa 2 to my Fitbit app since it was saying it “couldn’t find device”. My Bluetooth is on and works perfect with other Bluetooth things. I am so frustrated. I am computer/phone smart and have always had a “Fitbit” of some kind. This is no help and I’m frustrated.  Also I cannot return or exchange because my “window of opportunity” has closed!  Help Anyone?!?!

Hello @Kymberli_Mad, welcome to the Fitbit Community forums.

Thank you for the screenshots and for sharing all this information regarding the trouble that you've experienced to sync your watch and to use Alexa.

Before considering other options. could you please confirm if you already tried all the steps listed here to resolve syncing problems? In addition, please make sure to check if the mobile device you're using is listed here as a compatible device to sync with the Fitbit app.

Regarding the Alexa feature that is not connecting, make sure to check if you're getting a specific error message and that you've followed the recommendations listed here: What should i do if Alexa doesn’t work on my Fitbit watch?

Please keep me posted.
