Versa stuck in swim mode

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I used my Versa when swimming for the first time yesterday. It was counting lengths perfectly etc but when I’d finished I couldn’t stop or pause the tracker.

The touch screen did nothing (I believe this gets disabled in this mode),  the bottom button right did nothing. I could get to the notification screen from the top button and scroll through my swim stats using the home button and if I held the home button down the tracker would vibrate. Nothing I pressed would stop the swim tracking & I ended up having to restart my tracker which resulted in my loosing the swim data.

I've since tried to access the swim mode again when at home and it just gets stuck on the tracking screen and the only way out is to restart the device.

I’ve seen other people have had this issue but there doesn’t seem to be a solution - is there a way to exit swim tracking without restarting the tracker and loosing the the data?

Hi @Bex04, welcome to the Community Forums!

Thanks for bringing this to our attention and for trying some troubleshooting steps before posting over here, certainly, your device isn't working as the way it was designed. Because the restart process didn't completely solve this uncommon behavior, please try our factory reset procedure following the next steps:

  1. On the device, hold all three buttons for about 10 to 12 seconds.
  2. When the Fitbit logo disappears, quickly release the bottom right button, continuing to hold down the left and top right buttons (releasing the bottom right button as soon as the logo disappears is time sensitive).
  3. When the device vibrates, release all buttons.
  4. Wait for approximately 1-2 minutes while the device clears all data. Eventually, the Fitbit logo appears and the device boots and displays Fitbit.com/setup.
  5. When the device successfully resets, please use the normal out of the box process of updating the firmware. You can check: How do I update my Fitbit device? for more details.

Take in consideration that a factory reset deletes any stored data, which includes all data that hasn't synced to your Fitbit account and your applications, alarms, etc.

I'll be here if further assistance is needed.

Morning. I'm having a similar problem. My Versa had been stuck in swim mode for nearly 16 hours. Pressing the back button rings through the swim stats, or vibrates if I hold it. The top button let's my know "Nothing new here - you're all caught up!", and the bottom button does nothing.

I have attempted to shut down, holding the back and bottom buttons, but nothing happens beyond the screen going blank. I have tried to reset, holding all the buttons, again nothing but the screen going black. I get no Fitbit logo appearing at all with any of these attempts.

Any help would be much appreciated, xx

On swimming and disabled touchscreen: my buttons don't work either on my Versa. I tried the suggested restart mechanisms (pressing all three buttons for 10-12 seconds did nothing). I have to let the watch completely run out of battery and start over. Is there no fix for this?
