Downloaded software for Versa. While it was installing, the process froze. I have done the following to remedy the situation: turned Versa on and off, erased and re-loaded fitbit software on iPhone, Turn phone on and off. Removed versa from Bluetooth discoverable list. No longer discoverable. Disconnected all other Bluetooth devices from Phone. Nothing works because every time I turn watch back on again it returns the frozen installing state (loading bar still on screen) Can’t get help from Fitbit. Any suggestions? Is it possible to reset the Versa to factory settings using the buttons on the sides?

So my latest Versa works fine...so far. Did a FIIIT workout today and the watch handled it admirably. Fitbit pay works well, but so far in Canada, only the Royal Bank is on-board -- you can only store a credit card, not a debit card. The biggest pain has been replacing the watch strap, but it's a minor quibble. Will update as necessary.

I guess I have to return it as well. Installation is still stuck after 18 hours. That just doesn't give me much confidence about fitbit products. 😬

I had the same problem. My Fitbit app is on my iPad. After I entered the four numerisc which appeared on the Versa during the set up process on the iPaed, the process got stuck on the next stage of the set up where I assume that the Fitbit app was attempting to download the newest version of the software to the Versa. I tried a number of things suggested in the community discussions, but nothing seemed to work; after applying the proposed solutions and re-initiating the set up process, it always got hung up on the communication between the app and the Versa - the little wheel just whirled and whirled.
I was using the iPad's Bluetooth function for the communication with the Versa because the access to my house WiFi is password protected and I have long since loss the password. I read somewhere in the community instructions that it would take longer to update the software version with Bluetooth so let the communication process running with the Versa still charging and went to bed.
First thing this morning when when I checked the software update had apparently completed and the Versa was ready to complete the few remaining steps of the setup process and is now working as expected. So if you are having the same problem I had, the solution if you are using Bluetooth is to be patient and let the process run to completion. I don't know how long it took because I was sleeping, but it certainly isn't quick. I hope this helps someone. Good luck

To pair you Fitbit Versa, and most other models, make sure ALL other Bluetooth devices are turned off. I can stress that enough. I tried pairing my fitbit for over an hour only to find out my computer had bluetooth on. I turned it off and it paired immediately with my phone.

I have attempted all of the above, including attempted to connect it to 2 different droids and it will not connect to wi-fi. And yes, the wi-if works just fine for other devices, including the one I’m using to post this. So, I decided to complete a total reset of my versa. Now I have nothing, because it cannot find the wi-if! HELP!! My versa is only 2 months old. 😢

Thank you for the advice of turning the versa off and back on. As soon as I did that it connected and started logging steps again. I was ready to give up and take it to the geek squad.

I have just purchased a versa a couple of days ago in duty free. I have been trying to install software on watch with no success. I tried via my HTC phone and via samsung tablet. Everything the wifi install seems to stall and fail. Then I am asked to use bluetooth. I have tried twice and still no result. Is there a way to download what is required on the phone or tablet initially then connect the watch via hot so and work it that way without using any external Ritter or slow bluetooth.

I got a versa for my son for Christmas. I tried to set up before he left for his mother’s house. The main screen sits with a blue bar a third of the way across. I cannot see on Bluetooth it is locked up. My son is very upset as he had to leave without his Christmas gift. I tried resetting with the buttons. I’m at a loss. I try to reset it doesn’t vibrate like they say. Any ideas.

This thread started back in April and people are still having problems. I wonder if Fitbit has more than one manufacturer making their watches. My daughter-in-law has one and hers has worked fine for two months and she had no problems with her setup but she tried to get the one I bought for my wife working and couldn't make it happen. I was able to get the watch to hookup with my wi-fi but I had to put it 2" away from the router. I got a message that the software needed updating. (Why would they sell a watch that didn't have the latest software already on it? Never had that problem with a PC?) It has now been updating for over an hour and the progress bar hasn't moved. For some reason the iphone knows that the watch is fully charged but when I try to set up the watch face it can't locate the watch.
Fitbit has been losing money for the last two years. Maybe they are pushing products out the door that aren't ready for prime time.

I deleted the versa off of my list after it had loaded half way and now my phone cannot find it to start the process over again. Any ideas on how to make it go? Thanks

Finally!!! Received the Versa for Christmas. Just succeeded in getting it installed today. Thank you for the tips. It took 3 very long phone conversations with technicians and countless frustrating hours of trying to get it to update. It would be stuck on 5% downloading forever. This was going to be my final attempt before shipping it back with a unsatisfactory note attached. Then I read where someone used their phone hotspot. I cleared both devises, connected by hotspot and started from scratch and immediately it began downloading from the 5%, Hurray! Took less than 30 minutes to complete. Thank you for posting that solution.
