Hi there, @Katy9. Thanks for stopping by and trying to troubleshoot the issue with the Versa before reaching out. I understand where your concern is coming from.
Please note the message "Data not cleared, Sync & Try again" usually appears when you performed a factory reset without first unpairing your watch from your phone's Bluetooth settings.
With that being said, please confirm if you've followed the steps below to solve this issue:
If you can't get started with your Versa, usually a missing requirement is the cause. Carefully review the requirements provided in the help article Why can't I set up my Fitbit device?
If the issue persists after trying the above, the best way to get help for this problem is to chat with us online or give us a call. Click here to get connected.
We hope your issue is solved soon.

My Versa has been unusable the past 3 days with this same issue. It’s stuck on the message “data not cleared. sync & try again.” The moderator’s troubleshooting tips have not resolved the issue nor has any of the tips on other threads. Fitbit probably doesn’t want to acknowledge that the Versa software is corrupt.

It is annoying after trying these instructions I had a message on watch reset failed your data was not cleared pls try again.. I pressed ok and it went to clock face . This was only last night and so far ok...does swipe at the moment but not holding my breath. To pay so much fir a phone for under 2 years crazy. Won't buy another .

I agree. I’ve had my Versa for 18 months and this past month has been a nightmare of issues (battery draining rapidly, watch turning on/shutting off loop, randomly unsyncing). The Fitbit message board is full of users with similar issues. I just ordered a Garmin to replace my Fitbit.

Yip thinking along those lines if the fitbit does not last also looking at Garmin to replace my hubby one. However mine is the first original versa and is fine only when I select walk and press start hv to press a couple of times before its ready. Enjoy yr Garmin let us know how it is and model ...

Update: I got beyond the data-syncing error and now the clock displays, yay, right?! But that’s where it ends…sensors are not tracking heart rate or steps. And the screen will not respond to touch. For a smart watch, it’s pretty useless. Who has the patience to troubleshoot throughout the day?? My Garmin should be arriving on Friday! I hope you’re having better luck with your Versa 🙂
