Versa tracked a lot of floors all of the sudden

Gave my husband a Versa yesterday, everything was good but this morning after 2 hours it told him he did 33 flights of stairs already (not true) and 4,00 steps.  Any way to correct this?

Hey @Lynnob, welcome aboard! Let me ask you a few questions, because there are a few factors that could affect the floors tracked. First of all, I'd like to ask you if by any chance, did he leave his Versa close to a fan during those couple of hours? I'm asking because those vibrations are recognized by the altimeter on the Versa as floors, so that could be the main reason. If he didn't I suggest you to restart it by following these instructions, 'cause maybe there was a reboot on the Versa and it causes to track so many floors all of the sudden. Now, if he'd like to delete those extra floors, he can negate that data by following the instructions in this help article. Just keep in mind that the steps might be deleted as well.

It looks at air pressure to detect stairs, on windy days you can get lots of stairs out of nowhere for example. There isn’t really a way for a thingy on your wrist to tell the difference.

Hey @aux, how are you today? That is correct my friend. On windy days, the altimeter on your Versa can detect extra floors due to the air pressure. Also, pressure changes due to other causes—such as opening a door— Which is detected by your Versa as floors. For further information about how your Fitbit tracks your data, take a look at this help article.
