Why is my Fitbit saying that I am burning over 3000 calories per day, when only sometimes meeting 8000 steps? And not doing anything fitness related. This seems like way too much.

Welcome to the forums!
The calories burned are BMR calories. Your fitbit also calculates calories burned for your BMR. You burn calories just by being alive! Even Sleeping. Fitbit includes these burned calories in it's calorie calculations, so even if you did not wear the fitbit, you'll still burn these calories.

@Leahh94 Welcome to our Fitbit Community! I would like to follow up and would like to know if you found helpful the information that shared my friend @WendyB about how your Fitbit Versa tracks your calories since that info is totally accurate.
If you see that your calories are still inaccurate, don't hesitate to let us know and we'll be happy to assist you.
See you guys later!

Yea but with bmr + activity of 8k steps, there is no way shes burning 3000 calories. So basically, if she are 3000 calories, her weight would not change. Just no way it's that high.
