Versa tracks high heart rate readings

For the past few days, I've noticed that my Versa is reading my heart rate at up to 175. But when I check my pulse myself and using my phone, which also can read my pulse, both my reading and the phone are nearly the same, yet much, much lower than what Versa is saying, at around 65. That's a wide range!

And because this is a reoccurring thing, I began to wonder why. I understand the Versa isn't reading the pulse but sensing the blood flow. Assuming the technology isn't misreading it, although possible. If the true pulse rate is let's say, 65, but the Versa is reading 165, what's going on internally? This would be interesting to know why there's a sudden difference. Or, is it that sometimes the technology is misreading it all together and not always reliable?

@BetoNOTORourke it's great to see you in our Fitbit Community! I'm sorry for the late response. However, I would like to follow up on the high rate readings issue that your Versa is experiencing.

I'd like you to restart your Versa as described in this help article. After this, please make sure of the following details:

  1. Your device is positioned correctly on your wrist:
    • Tighten the band so that it doesn’t slip on your wrist. For more information, see How do I track my heart rate with my Fitbit device?
    • Heart-rate tracking may not work with certain accessory bands, especially if they’re loose fitting. For best results, use the wristband that came with your device.
  2. If you’re doing an exercise such as high-intensity interval training, boxing, or other activities that cause your arm to move vigorously, try to relax your wrist and stay still for up to 10 seconds until your heart rate appears.

Note that heart-rate tracking is disabled during swimming.

After this, monitor your heart rate during the next 24 hours and see if the issue gets fixed.

Keep me posted on the outcome! 😀
