Versa watch face is wanting to charge me $1.00 for the weather app

My new Versa wants to charge me $1.00 for the weather app. I keep getting a code asking for payment. I thought the watch faces were free. How to you tell which ones are free, very confusing.

Hi @Tannerdog1,

All the Fitbit watch faces are free. The ones developed by others are sometimes free and sometimes pay. There should be a note of it on the install page for the clock face.

If you don't want to pay for that face, just change to another one.

Work out...eat... sleep...repeat!

Please edit your post title and the first line of your post.  Versa is NOT charging you anything for the weather app.

I agree, it IS confusing to tell which clocks are free and which are not. If it's in the manual, it's buried deeply. For those of us who are new to the smart-watch scene, this is new territory. (I upgraded from a Fitbit One.)

The cost and payment info has been at the bottom of every paid clock face I have looked at. Scroll down in he deacription, select “show more” and read to the bottom.

I just tried to use the Star Trek watch face. No where on the page did it say it would charge, but in 24hrs I was prompted to pay. I just switched to a Fitbit face on principle. I know $1 is not a lot, but I hate hidden charges. I then looked at about 20 other watch faces, and none said anything about price. Fitbit should require developers list their cost or show “free” if they do not charge.

You’re right it doesn’t specify. IMO it’s a good practice to assume that every third-party clock face is paid unless otherwise specified.

I understand your point about assuming all 3rd party apps charge. I think it’s just poor practice not to disclose cost upfront. App stores for iOS and android are very clear about their costs.

Also, there are no terms about the cost. If I pay the $1 then switch my watch face, will I then be charged the $1 again if I switch back? The device can only load one face at a time. Does the download attach to my account so I pay once?

You make very good points! Hopefully Fitbit will listen.

The answer to your questions is No, you will not be charged again and Yes, if you reinstall, there is a facility to see that you only pay once.

I totally agree! Hopefully, with enough complaints Fitbit will address this issue.
