When I decided to buy the versa a few days before it was actually available it stated it had an nfc chip in it.  I got it and it doesn't.  If you advertise a feature put it in the product.

The nfc is only on the special edition versa models. Is yours one of those?

Hi, there! @Digger68 Smiley Happy Welcome to the Fitbit Community. 

 

If you're looking for the Versa with NFC, it is only available with the Special Edition version. You most likely purchased the regular Versa. I suggest exchanging it with your retailer for the Special edition. Hope this is helpful! Let me know if you have any other concerns.

The sales representative assured that the only difference is the Charcoal woven band!

Furthermore at the back of the versa it states 'fitbit pay'. According to your information on pay functionality, the versa should have this feature. Since I am in europe, there are no banks supporting it yet. So I couldn't verify of the nfc chip is really there.

 

I am also looking in the reference for the software to read/write the nfc chip. Where can I find it?

 

About the difference between versa and versa special edition: see extract from transcript (fitbit_chat_transcript_1527365821648.txt) below:

Denise:The GPS is the same on both Versa's. The only difference is the 2 bands.
Me:In that case don't bother. So the only difference is pay function?
Denise:The Charcoal woven band is exclusive to the Special Editions on our web store only.
Denise:The Versa has connected GPS, it is our Ionic that has Built-in GPS
