Versa won't charge after the battery runs out

Hello!

 

This is the third time in 2 years that I've accidentally let my battery run right down before charging, and when I've then plugged it in it won't charge or restart. Both previous times I left it a week and all of a sudden it started charging again. Not sure why it needs the "holiday" so not sure it'll do it again, but third time lucky i hope!
