Versa won't charge or turn on

I’ve had my Fitbit Versa since Feb 2019. Earlier today it turned off and the screen says it has 0% battery. I’ve tried charging it but nothing’s happening. It still won’t switch on. I can see others have had this problem, has anyone managed to fix the issue?

Did you try restarting it while on the charger? If you can't see anything while on the charger i would say you have a bad charger cord.

Yes I’ve tried another charger, plug and socket and it’s all the same. The last time it sync (Sunday morning), it was on 81% and then just turned off.

No, I meant the charger cable may be bad.

I've replaced everything that charges the watch - the cable, the plug and the socket. The problem cannot be with it charging. The only thing I haven't replaced is the watch.

You're not alone. I'm having this same problem and have tried everything short of replacing the watch.

I bought mine through Amazon and found out that it has a two year repair warranty. I’m posting it back today to hopefully be fixed. It’s very annoying as obviously a common problem with these watches!

Hello everyone. I'm sorry for the late response and hearing that your Versa smartwatches are not charging. I'm here to help you.

Hello @Dwight88. We apologize for the late response to the email you sent to our Support Team on May 11th. Keep in mind that we may need more than 7 business days to respond, due to recent events affecting our operations. Stay tuned of your inbox to the email address associated with this account someone will reply to you as soon as they can. In the meantime, you can try what I'm suggesting below.

Hi guys @DW1978, @Sistashirley, @nkr0701, and @Nikkinik81, thanks for taking the time to follow all the tips and recommendations suggested in the foros. If you're still having issues with your Versa's display, battery not charging or battery draining quickly, I'd recommend making sure you did follow as described below to solve the issue:

- Restart your watch as follows: How do I restart my Fitbit device?

- If your Versa does not charge, see: Why isn't my Fitbit device's battery charging?

On a side note, as per the description of your posts, it seems that your watches have insufficient power source. Where do you charge your tracker? Have you checked if by any chance the USB port or outlet is faulty? If you haven't done so, try a different port. A UL-certified wall charger will also work. Don't use a USB hub.

Here are some of the best tips to charge your Fitbit:

  • Use only genuine Fitbit charging cables
  • Use only UL-certified wall chargers
  • Avoid USB battery packs
  • Charge at room temperature

For charging purposes, your charging cable can be plugged into any USB power source, including but not limited to:

  • A computer
  • A Wall A/C to USB adapter, commonly found with smartphones
  • A DC to USB adapter (vehicle power port)

If your Versa's battery is or keeps draining, see: Can I extend my Fitbit device's battery life?

Hey @SunsetRunner, thanks for your help in this thread! 😊

Let me know how it goes, I'll be around.

Its definitely my Fitbit that is faulty and looking at other messages, it looks like this is a common problem with Fitbit Versas.

I always use the official Fitbit Versa charger that came with the watch.

I have tried replacing ALL charging parts, apart from the watch. I used another OFFICIAL Fitbit Versa charger, changed the USB plug and changed the socket.

The last time my watch synced with my phone, it had 81% battery. An hour or so later, it had switched off and wouldn't charge or turn back on. It DEFINITELY had not run out of battery.

I have tried ALL the suggestions on the Fitbit website and nothing has made any difference at all.

I bought mine from Amazon and it has a 2 year repair warranty so I have now returned mine to them.

Just to update, Fitbit have now sent me a brand new replacement watch. I'm assuming when I returned mine to Amazon, they realised it was irreparable and sent it back to Fitbit. Fitbit then got in contact with me and sent me a replacement watch.
