Versa won't connect when trying to set it up in the app

got a new versa for xmas and tried to set it up. bluetooth has found it but whenever i try and set it up on my phone and when it searches for it it finds it but all i get is a box saying connecting for a few mins  then a not working try again screen.

this i have done for what feels like a 100 times

i have tried switching bluetooth on and off and making sure nothing else is on bluetooth mode in the house.
