Versa won't stop vibrating and it's flickering between screens

I have the org versa.  I've been using it for just over a year.

Early this morning I felt it vibrating. I thought I was just touching it with my other hand while I slept. I moved my arm away from the rest of my body and it still randomly vibrated. Once awake I looked and have noticed it's also flipping through the top left hand notification (heart, steps, miles) section.  It will also go to other screens randomly without being touched and flip through all kinds of things. Pressing any button doesn't seem to make it go back.  It is currently going from sleep to wake mode (flashing off and on).  I've power cycled it and updated the app.  I dont see a software update in the app itself.

Hi there @Avdra, welcome to the Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention and reporting your Versa's recent behavior. Thanks for trying to fix it, I'll be glad to continue assisting you.

In order for me to better assist you with this, please confirm that you've followed the steps below as described in the help articles:

  1. Check in the Fitbit app if your Versa is still syncing, if so, try changing the clock face to a different one by following these steps: How do I change the clock face on my Fitbit device?. The steps are done through the Fitbit app, do not worry if you cannot see anything on the screen for this process.
  2. Please confirm if you've restarted your device by following the steps from this help article: How do I restart my Fitbit device?

If the suggestions don't work and your watch doesn't vibrate when you connect it to the charger, it may not be having a good connection with the charger and therefore, it won't properly charge. Said that, I recommend doing the following:

  • Clean the charging contacts on the back of your device and the pins on your charging cable using the instructions in How do I clean my Fitbit device?
  • If the error "insufficient power source" appears on your device's screen, remove other devices plugged in to your power source, or plug your device in to another source.
  • Try a different USB port or a UL-certified wall charger.
  • Check the alignment and try reconnecting your device to the charging cable. For more information, see How do I charge my Fitbit device?
  • Restart your Fitbit once again. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?

If the above steps don't work, at this point I recommend doing a factory reset (before doing so, make sure to remove your watch from your Fitbit account):

  1. On the device, hold all three buttons for about 10 to 12 seconds.
  2. When the Fitbit logo disappears, quickly release the bottom right button, continuing to hold down the left and top right buttons (releasing the bottom right button as soon as the logo disappears is time sensitive).
  3. When the device vibrates, release all buttons.
  4. Wait for approximately 1-2 minutes while the device clears all data. Eventually, the Fitbit logo appears and the device boots and displays Fitbit.com/setup.
  5. When the device successfully resets, please use the normal out of the box process of updating the firmware. You can check: How do I update my Fitbit device? for more details.

Take in consideration that a factory reset deletes any stored data, which includes all data that hasn't synced to your Fitbit account and your applications, alarms, etc.

Worth noting after my org post....I did notice the screen may have looked discolored but want sure. I changed the watch face to as much of a white one as possible and sure enough it looks off in sections and I can't press the apps on the right hand side of the screen (just won't respond, so I can't press the settings app).

I did get it wet for the 1st time ever last week. I went kayaking (very easy, smooth river, and I was never in any water over my head).  I also showered with it for the 1st time afterwards. I'm thinking possible water damage. I intentionally wouldn't get it wet bf but went against my better judgment and kept it on when I got in the river that day and assumed i was fine to shower afterwards.

I will try to reset once it charges back up. I took it off to see if it would dry out some and turn off since setting won't allow me to manually power it off.

Hi there @Avdra, thanks for getting back and for the update in your reply. I appreciate the details you've shared.

Note that all Fitbit trackers and smartwatches are water-resistant, which means they're rainproof and splash-proof and can stand up to even the sweatiest workout. You can swim or shower with certain Fitbit devices. Fitbit Versa series are Swimproof in a lake, pool, or ocean (up to 50 meters).

Please let me know if you have done what I suggested here so I can move forward to the next step. 😉

After letting it power down on its own and putting it on charge a couple of days later, my versa's display won't turn on. I can tell it is powered on (the dark backlight is there) but no actual display at this point. I wonder if there is any kind of warranty at this point, and what's the best department to reach for that.

It's really frustrating that I would refuse to get it wet but finally gave in and now it's just ruined.
