Versa won't turn on after factory reset.

A few days ago i noticed that the green blinking lights on the back of my Versa watch were not on so it was not detecting my hr. I turned it off and back on and nothing. I looked online and several people were having the same issue and i saw that there was a respinse from fitbit suggesting a factory reset. I tried that and as soon as i clicked on factory reset my watch turned off. It was fully charged (98%) when i did this and now the screen is completely black. Ive tried pushing the three buttons to turn it on for several minutes at a time and nothing. Ive tried leaving it to charge for a full day and nothing. This is very frustrating.

Fitbit got anything to say about this? Cause it seems like an engineering failure, and I'm getting really used to not having a fitbit watch

Best Answer

I tried this the other night and had success with my watch working again until I purchased and downloaded a watch face. So have since again done the following process just last night and hoping it’s fixed again.

1. In the 2min time the watch would stay on for I went to settings in the watch and then too the “about” section and “factory reset” my watch.
2. I then had to go to Bluetooth settings in my phone and “forget” meaning delete the versa from my phone.
3. I then deleted and re-loaded the Fitbit app on my phone
4. Re-connected my watch to the app as a “new device”.

I have replied to Fitbit support just now via email with this same response.

We're talking about a different problem. My versa won't turn on at all.

Best Answer

Fitbit must know about it however, I never heard a response. I broke down
and bought the versa 2 and now from time to time I shut it off for a
break. Maybe having it on 24/7 wore it out to fast...idk. I wish they
would fix it though. If it happens again I will probably look into
other options, sadly.

After speaking to Fitbit they refused to help me as my watch was 2 weeks past it’s warranty date, I said I’d be happy to send my watch to them as an example of what is clearly happening to 100’s of peoples watches to see if they could resolve the problem and they refused! Fitbit clearly know there is a system fault with the Versa and absolutely refuse to take responsibility. Now with Apple and customer service I have received so far has been much better

Hello Juan.

I am having the same problem as most people and I am frustrated to see that Fitbit hasn't offered a single solution that doesn't involve buying a new fitbit at a 25% discount. My fitbit isn't even a year old and find it odd that it just quit after keeping it in nearly perfect condition. I don't know if this is on purpose so customers will purchase another or what but offering customers who paid hundreds of dollars a 25% discount for nearly new watches that quit for NO reason is just going to cause dissatisfaction and they'll take their money elsewhere. We just want answers and as the seller, you should be taking accountability. I really like the fitbit device itself but if I can't get help with this issue, I can't afford to buy another possibly faulty product, even at a 25% discount

This same issue is happening to me.

I’m having the same issue. I did a factory reset and as soon as I tapped reset the screen went black and it turned off. I’ve tried holding the two buttons, holding the three buttons, etc. No vibration when put on charger - it had a full charge when I did the reset. I guess I’m glad that the reset was because I bought an Apple Watch and was going to sell my Versa. My husband’s FitBit has been steadily pooping the bed for two weeks which is what prompted the change - we’ve each had several fitbits (flex, blaze, ionic, Versa) and none last more than 1-2 years tops. We’ve decided to quit wasting our money and switch. Sure would have been nice to sell my Versa since it was in great shape and doing fine. Frustrating.

Same issue here, after a hardware reset performed via the watch settings option it doesn't turn on at all anymore. My battery wasn't even dead when I performed the reset. However I tried charging it afterwards and it won't show any signs of charging. I left it on the charger for a day and afterwards tried the 3 button, 2 button, 1 button reset, but nothing happens. My screen stays off, no lights, and the watch just looks totally dead.

My Versa SE is out of warranty and Fitbit support offered me a 35% discount on a replacement. But the discount excludes the latest Fitbit Versa 3 and only works on the old models. Why would I want an old model? Since everyone in this thread is having this issue with their Versa it seems likely to come up again since it obviously isn't specific to my personal device. This seems like a terrible resolution. Has anyone had better luck with Fitbit support?

I am also having same issue, Fitbit stopped tracking heart rate and steps, tried soft reset and installed software update which didn’t help, used trouble shooting which suggested factory reset, versa was fully charged when factory reset done, Fitbit turned off and won’t turn back on, doesn’t vibrate at the charger, have held all 3 buttons for about 5 mins, tried 2 buttons, put on charger overnight....pretty sure it’s dead! Sounds like the factory reset is like pulling the plug on the Versa....any fix for this yet????

I had to send mine in for warranty work. They didn’t say what the issue was but the work fixed it. In the mean time, I just bought an Apple Watch because FitBit support is so lacking.

It does not vibrate

Best Answer

I have given up, it does nothing now. It is only good for telling the time & using the timer for watering my garden. The sensory lights on the back don’t come on, it doesn’t count anything & yes like others it will not vibrate. I Can’t carry on too much at least mine turns on unlike others I’m reading about. It’s beyond frustrating I have tried factory re-setting on every level multiple times and it just kept getting worse loosing more functions.
done and completely over using my Fitbit. I am now saving for another smart watch and thinking about trying Apple. My other Apple products have never failed me so harshly like this. Feel very Robbed as do many others on this thread clearly  😤😤

Come on @Fitbit  this is unfair and beyond a joke that so many off us are having similar issues if not the same after a update. What are you going to do about this problem, the fact my watch is useless to me just like so many others on this thread is so very wrong

It still won’t turn on, looks like I may need to look at something new but very reluctant to go back to Fitbit, so strange how easily my watch just shut down....can’t afford for that type of thing to happen again

Nothing that I have heard. I end up buying a versa 2 with the extended
warranty. I figure I'll have at least 2 years. I also turn this one off
once in awhile. Before, I never did. Not sure if it'll help, but it might.

FitBit is deleting my responses because I mention the fruit brand since the FitBit products die so quickly. (my Versa before the one year warranty even expired!) I refuse to buy another FitBit. I love their app but their customer service and support suck and their products don’t last.

This is also affecting me. I factory reset mine bc it would not update. Now it won’t turn on. I’ve have not used it since June of last year. If I could get an answer that would help

I had time left on my warranty so sent it in for repair. They did not disclose what the issue was or how they fixed it. I chose to sell my Versa and get the fruit watch.
